POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
@rosiecard posted about being 25 and deciding to buy a fancy Costco blender she had waited to get on a wedding registry one day. 👀 It made me realize that moving to Arizona to get a masters degree was my fancy Costco blender. I honest to goodness bless my soul thought I needed a partner in crime (spouse) to support me emotionally and financially to move out of my home state and pursue my career/a new adventure. I day dreamed about many things but limited myself in pursuing them (and God in giving them to me) because I thought a fairy god-mother (spouse) would bring some magic. I’m definitely not the first person to do any of this by myself, but this is my Costco blender and I’ve been appreciating it so much lately. I don’t think this message can be shared enough. Also - creation, companionship, deep connection, intimacy, and security aren’t limited to dating/marriage. 😌 Grateful for marriage if/when that comes but grateful for Rosie’s message and wanted to share it too. I hope all you nice boys and gals go buy your fancy Costco blender! Thank you and goodnight.

This, I believe with all my heart.

It does very little good to stand on the outside and throw stones.

Even less effective is standing quietly on the inside.

Throwing fits and accusations from the inside isn’t really a great long term plan either.

I believe that change happens when those on the inside, who have that nagging feeling that something is just not right, stand up and speak out.

It is the insider activists, with respect and knowledge of the people and the culture, who ultimately will be the most effective at the needed work of reform.

By sharing experiences, asking questions, and respectfully challenging troubling norms, we give others a chance to think or re-think ideas that we absorbed with out much consideration.

And rethinking old ideas, changes everything!!!

Re-thinking the religious norms is exactly what brought about the restoration.

Rethinking and action.

I believe that this is how the Lord effects mighty changes in us and His church.

Just how he did with Joseph Smith.

He could have handed it all to the most successful preachers at the time, but he didn’t.

He needed someone with the desire to rethink what was being taught.

It is the work of the Spirit, who brings to our minds, nagging questions that don’t quite fit.

Questions that you roll over constantly in your head.

Sticky questions as Sharon Eubanks named them.

These questions are the basis of Sherri Dew’s talk and book, Worth the Wrestle. Read it if you haven’t yet.

Once you start to understand in a different way, be confident enough in your spiritual promptings that you can stand up and speak out.

This is what’s needed.

This is how you can help.

This is the work of reform.

This IS the Lords work!
