🧶🪡🧵✂️Every scrap saved, every color kept — watch the smallest pieces become something new. :) 👙 Loved showing attendees my vintage @singernorthamerica serger machine and the multi-step process in which I make my own yarn from discarded swim & gymnastics fabrics. Here’s a little glance at me live knitting last weekend while being connected to the yarn attached to the wall. 🏡 On location at the @climateimaginarium during @openhousenewyork. Though I’ve been knitting on and off (since my grandmother taught me how when I was 10, I’m no expert like she was). This is really just me experimenting and figuring out ways I can reduce textile waste. Join Climate Cafe NYC x @climatepsychologyalliancena x @climateimaginarium x @streetworksearth for a climate cafe and ribbon upcycling workshop! ☕️💝🪴We’ll have a meaningful conversation at @plantedcafenyc in Brooklyn on Saturday 11/21 from 3-5pm to process climate emotions and our feelings about consumerism as we hand craft gorgeous accessories. ​🎀No experience necessary — we’ll provide all of the materials. 🍦What went down at “Overheated” in 30 seconds :) 🫧🏖️ “Overheated” was a zero-waste, immersive summer pop-up exhibition hosted by sustainable swimwear brand @rosina_mae at @rume_atelier in Brooklyn, New York earlier this July. Attendees stayed hydrated with complimentary ice-cream, sorbet, and drinks. The exhibition took us from the beach, to the street, to the party… while aiming to raise environmental awareness surrounding climate change and textile waste. Featured (past and present) Rosina~Mae works blurred the lines between functional swimwear, avant-garde textile art, and luxury nightlife fashion. 💧 More than just a summer aesthetic, the title was direct commentary on our current climate reality. The event (which also acted as a sensory escape) was made possible thx to the women led team behind Rüme Atelier. Rosina~Mae transported us from the beach to the street to the party at RÜME with “Overheated,” a one-day poolside swimwear exhibition celebrating her 10-year anniversary in New York. Blurring the lines between functional swimwear, avant-garde textile art, and luxe nightlife fashion, the exhibition showcased her signature textile art techniques, and a small retrospective of her past works.
