Circuitous studies, with doubles.

1. Jennifer Bartlett per John Ashbery: “Her habit then—& now—is to begin with a basic concept and work it out ad absurdum, ultimately sabotaging its ‘purity’ with freewheeling improvisation.”
2. Detail from “Sea Wall” above, where she gives those box boys that old “what-for” as grandma used to say
3. An April evening of reading & listening with a little speaking between the private & public of publishing offered by Will Holder. Wish you were there; wish I was still there.
4. An early 90s exhibition of this “Diab DS-101 Computer” & related works by Richard Hamilton in London broke this little art brain in ways I’m still putting together. But what the hell it was doing in that boiled-vegetables-left-for-too-too-many-days-in-a-buffet-steamer shitshow of an “exhibition” at New Museum is anyone’s guess. Looked good against that trashed pink carpet though.
5. Cutting through & nook ‘n’ crannying 80s Edgewater with Bossy Ross-Ho.
6. Pope.L, speaking of absence.
7. & endless sets.
8. Jonathan González’s “The Strikebreakers,” nearly impossible to capture, as it really cross-faded & contradicted; charged attentions, molasses pulse, cantilevered moods, frequencies...
9. ...& “The Strikebreakers” afters. Thank you for the entanglements to performers Anya Clarke-Verdery, Anya Susan Collins, Cory Seals, Donovan Reed, & Jasmine Hearn. (Still sitting on this title though—there’s some knotty to it.)
10. Atypical moment from sabrina soyer & Lisa Robertson’s faceted “I of Song.” What’s to say except to say I wonder what Lyn Hejinian would have said.
11. A bolt of Sarah Gamble.
12. Inexplicably spiraling through a rabbit hole that is Motörhead’s “bomber” lighting rig from the late 70s. Do not bring it up, you’ll regret it.
13. If you know you’ll know.
14. Cally Spooner in restlessly notational refusal from “A Hypothesis of Resistance.” (& do I note the typographic & annotation work of Will Holder on this publication to tie another bow??)
15. You said it, Warhol.
16. Partial inventory of recent mail call. Thank yous all for the gifts.
17. No if to a good Harryette Mullen, yeah.
