A massive thank you to everyone who came down, you made the first Breakout really special and an amazing building block for more. 🫶🏻 Thank you to Kitty Bella and Jeepster for their incredible live sets, to Andrew Smallman, Jonny Amos and Pete Donnelly for giving their time and bringing so much value to the panel, and to the team at Dead Wax for having us. Big love to Ross, Josh, Callum, Meli, Justice and everyone behind the scenes who helped pull it together. Events like this take a lot more work than people see, so we’re really grateful to everyone who gave their time, advice, energy and support. Breakout was built to bring artists, creatives and people working across music in the Midlands into the same room, creating more connection, more opportunity and a stronger independent music community. Hideout presents BREAKOUT. Launching July 9th at Dead Wax Courtyard, Digbeth, BREAKOUT is a new grassroots music showcase and creative networking platform built to connect artists, bands, producers, creatives and industry professionals under the same roof. Not just to showcase talent, but to help it grow. Live performances. Industry talks from industry leaders. Creative exchange. A room full of people who care about what is happening here and want to see it progress. The Midlands music scene is often overlooked, under-supported and some have even stated that it is ‘rapidly declining’. But the talent never disappeared. There is unreal ambition and artistry across the Midlands that has been bubbling under the surface for years. What has been missing is the infrastructure around it. We wanted to create a space for that pressure to break out. This is about giving artists access to conversations, knowledge, collaborators and opportunities that are too often kept behind closed doors. If you are a band, solo artist, producer, engineer, photographer, videographer, designer, promoter, manager, student, songwriter, rapper, poet, creative or simply care about music and creativity in your community, BREAKOUT is for you. This isn’t another exclusionary scene. It is an event for real artistry, real collaboration and real community, which is why the event is FREE... because access matters.
