National Curator James Rothwell shares the story behind the Beauty Room at Petworth House, and the restoration of one of the most remarkable Baroque interiors in England.

In this video, he explores the meticulous process of restoring two magnificent paintings by Michael Dahl to their full length, and looks ahead to the future conservation work planned for this extraordinary space.

Swing by for a chat and to learn more about my craft from 2-4pm and catch the lovely @jessicajue_jewellery in the morning session from 11-1pm. More info and booking will follow closer to the time but for now save the date!

Images by @katedarkinsphotography from a brilliant previous demo event at Clothworkers Hall with London Craft Week and Contemporary British Silversmiths. The last two images show collector John Andrew showing other guests his engraved box I made, the 'Pixie Box' inspired by his cat Pixie!

Still reeling from my visit to Munstead Wood, I have been thinking about how the house looked in Gertrude Jekyll’s time. The photograph from Laurence Weaver, Houses and Gardens by E.L. Lutyens (first published by Country Life in 1913) suggests that the electroliers (second image) might be original. #edwinlutyens #gertrudejekyll #nationaltrustuk

‘Treasured Possessions’ exhibition @polesdenlaceynt is now open!

Showcasing Mrs Margaret Greville’s sensational collection of treasures. From fabulous Faberge, including an egg with snowflakes of diamonds on the clasp, to exceptional ceramics and jewel encrusted miniatures.

It’s been a joy and privilege to work on showcasing Mrs Greville’s collection. None of this would have been possible without the dedication and expertise of my wonderful colleagues @polesdenlaceynt and @rothwell9499 @richardashbourne @lorien1982 @rof_conservation_studiont

A programme of exhibition events include talks on the objet d’art, silver and ‘Tuesday Treasures’ every last Tuesday of the month.
