HOUSTON SEEN/SCENE: First, a shoutout to Jordan Bolduc and Jailyne España, the talented young curators behind PrintHouston’s ThinkINK 2026 members’ exhibition at The Silos at Sawyer Yards!

While I was there, I also wandered through ClayHouston’s Bayou Mud 2026 and photographed four ceramic works that caught my eye. Featuring functional and sculptural pieces by Houston-area artists, the exhibition draws inspiration from our bayous and the transformation of earth, water, fire and clay.

Swipe through to meet Jordan and Jailyne, and some of the artists in ThinkINK, then see a few of my favorite artworks (including one by Susan Budge) from Bayou Mud.

Last month I got to join the second annual Emerging Visions collegiate art exhibition with @redbudartscenter ! I was so happy to have my painting “Idler” up among so many incredible pieces (which are on view through Aug 29th!). Thank you to juror @elliott_art2025 for the honorable mention, and to everyone at Redbud Arts Center for making this happen. I had such a wonderful night and it’s always too easy to get busy talking and forget to snap pictures. To the winners, curators & organizers, and my fellow artists, congratulations 🌹

Look at the level of detail in this painting!! And it’s even more impressive in person 😉 Ceci N’est Pas Un Cuisine by recent UH Master of Fine Arts graduate Jai España @rottenlungsstudios is one of many interior paintings and prints Jai España has up for our August exhibition.

Every month we display a new, local artist at Verbena. All pieces are for sale. All proceeds goes to the artist #houstonartscene #lovelocal

Big night for UH at Redbud Gallery’s Emerging Visions opening! 🥳🥳

Representing the MFA Painting program were recent MFA Painting graduate, Jai España, and current MFA Painting candidate, Tyler Evin. Congratulations to both artists on their participation in this incredible exhibition!

A special congratulations to Jai España for receiving first place, earning a solo exhibition at Redbud Gallery. What an exciting and well-deserved achievement!

2. In good company.
3. About face
4. Mentioned honorably.
5. Me and my car are in a war I’m never gonna win.
6. This smile was sarcastic. Can you tell?
7. Untethered 🙌🏾
8. I want a wall of these in my house @sierrar.t
9. Don’t let me get good at this… I will be cussing people out in fibers. (If you can’t see it, squint.)
10. How I feel lately.

Our first official meeting for Houston Missprints Collective! (formally known as Lés Missprints Collective). Our mission for 2025-2026 was to support our cofounder, Jai España, to graduate with her Masters degree from UH. Jai graduated this Spring!!! 🥳

Today, we officially welcomed our first member Saran Alderson! She graciously hosted us at Rosin and Talc, her new studio at Project Row Houses.

Stay tuned for exciting things coming from Houston Missprints!!

Yesterday, I graduated with my MFA.

And somewhere between the ceremony, the flowers, the coming swell of the Texas heat and my family standing beside me, I felt something inside of me soften. A new kind of peace has bloomed. A feeling of authentic love and quiet alignment moving through my body simultaneously

I can feel a rhythm that feels organic- my ancestors beside me, my community around me, the Earth beneath me. I feel pulled towards a life lived in relation rather than transaction, rooted in reciprocity, intention, slow like a snail 🐌

I have spent so many years moving at full speed, pushing myself beyond my limits, surviving through motion. This degree is giving me the permission I’ve been searching for to slow down. I want to listen more deeply. I want to sit with people longer, cook slower meals, make offerings, teach openly, share generously, and move my paintbrush carefully across the canvas as an act of devotion.

Art as communion rather than production. Art for healing. Art for arts sake bringing us back into eachother, through the tech weeds. Through the heat. Cutting like a knife to salvation…

First photo taken by my mother. I love it so much, I can see through her lens how proud she is of me.

Photos 2,8,10,11 by the wonderful @cam.shot.first

Photo 3 a beautifully busked poem by @tlavois

The rest are photos from my sweet little grad party at echoes. I kept my phone hidden mostly but caught of few photos of friends with temporary tattoos of my face my mother made for the party. Thank you to everyone who came ❤️

Vitamin C is my favorite graduation song ever, sorry not sorry.
