🎬 “The second film was trickier. We didn’t know what we were doing — for a while.”

From the director Sofiya Kudryavtseva:

“The second film took longer to develop.
We juggled around several ideas, but nothing really hit.

And then we realized something:
we had two psychologists in the team.

They were deeply interested in dissociative identity disorder (DID) — the condition where different personalities coexist.
And once we went down that path, and started drawing from the acting students’ lives outside of filmmaking — something shifted.

We found their spark.

We knew they didn’t want to do comedy.
But they didn’t want a classical drama either.

So we arrived at a metaphorical representation of DID.
Our own version of Alice in Wonderland.

A dark fantasy.
A journey into the subconscious —
a place where different characters, different personalities, coexist uninhibited.

And once again, things started to appear.

Elena turned out to have been a rabbit for Halloween — full costume ready.

Samantha’s friend had just been in a play and could lend us an Alice dress.

Reza joined the team almost unexpectedly.
Originally, Victor was meant to play the role, but he had to step away for a job opportunity — and we respected that.

At the beginning, we had no clue how we were going to film something as complex — in terms of costumes and sets — as Alice in Wonderland.

And yet, somehow, everything fell into place.

✨ You don’t always start with clarity.”

🎬 “When we started brainstorming and the student actors suggested two parallel universes, I was like: yes. And also… I was freaking out.”

From the director Sofiya Kudryavtseva:

“When we started brainstorming and Mila said she wanted to shoot the film in a lift and in a cemetery, I was immediately excited.

And then Gil added: two parallel universes.

I was like — yeah. That’s great.
We shouldn’t block our creativity. This is exactly the place to explore.

Also, I was really scared 😱

The only lift I know - lift in my apartment building - is ugly.
The light is awful.
It gives me bad self-esteem every time I use it.
I get dressed at home, feel good, then I look at myself in that mirror and — boom — I look terrible.

And the cemetery?
Permissions.
Paperwork.
We were only a few weeks away from the shoot.

And I’m not even mentioning the idea of multiple universes.

It felt scary. Too big. Too complicated.

But I said yes.
And we did it.

And once we started trying — things appeared.
Solutions. Locations. Possibilities.

Nothing was as impossible as it seemed before we began.

So I guess this is a reminder to myself, and maybe to you too:

✨ Be brave. Try. Things open up.”
