We had a big day yesterday. Our very first college Move In Day. Rowan is now officially a Spartan! 💚 The day itself was as exhausting as I expected it to be, although I am grateful that it was not pouring rain and it was only about 73 degrees. 😎 Still…no matter how prepared I tried to be, it was hard. The feeling that surprised me was how my body recognized it as the same feeling as leaving her in the NICU when they released me but not the babies. Just that sense of “wrongness.” That internal protest that this could not be right, she should be with me, with her mother, obviously. But I am so proud of her, and I love getting to see her fly. Parenthood, like living in general, I’m not linear. It’s cyclical. And I cheered for her to roll over for the first time, and held my breath while she worked to take a step all by herself, and clapped when she sounded out a sentence without help. So now I’ll cheer for her to figure out a college schedule, and make friends with her new roommate, and learn a new fight song. I am so proud of her. ❤️
