Last weekend we gathered together at @buddy_brewing in Burpengary to share delicious food and drink and take part in an awesome free gameshow event about the need to TAX GAS EXPORTS NOW! It was wonderful to see so many folks travelling up from our @pineriversgreens area, and from our Caboolture Region Greens area to join the amazing @thenikilpaul and Logan from @northpine.greens and @senatorpennyqld for a super afternoon. We opened with a Welcome to Country from Udjeee Tais of @biraltours where we all shared our applicable ancestors and reflected on where we all come from around the world, and Udjeee gave us greetings from Country. Then the gameshow kicked off with @thenikilpaul and Logan as our comedic hosts - like a combo of Spicks and Specks and QI, full of wild facts about just how much profit gas companies in Australia make, and what we could do for all of us with just a 25% tax and the $17 BILLION PER YEAR we would gain - with an awesome DJ doing gameshow sound effects and background music, culminating with a reveal that our hosts LOVE GAS TAX TOO (check out the Tshirts)! We had a mystery guest contestant, Rob, joining our Greens Senator for Queensland Penny, Bree Glasbergen and Callum Wade on the stage, and he was awesome. Everyone who wanted to put their name in a tin on entry and Rob was the lucky contestant drawn out of the tin, and he had a lot of great stories to tell us. Bree gave us an emotional speech about why we need a gas tax to help us all fight for our right to a fair go, against the awfulness of cost of living pressures, and Penny told us how we CAN do this, just like people power has done in the past. Attendees went home with gas tax yard signs, and letterboxing in their local area, and filled with certainty that we can get this done. Thanks so much to our volunteer organisers across the three local Greens branches, to Penny and team, and to Sean as always, for bringing the Tax Gas Exports campaign to our Moreton Bay area. We will keep fighting to get this done! Join us! (Links in our Linktree in our bio for how to get involved)

The federal Labor government is attempting to cut $37.8 Billion from the NDIS; the single largest savings measure in the 26/27 federal budget. The bulk of this money will be taken directly from people’s support plans, especially Social & Community Access funding. Oriela & Rowena from the Protect Our NDIS Alliance spoke to us about what this means for people with disabilities, the health system and the economy more broadly. They’re holding a National Day of Action on Saturday 1st August in resistance to these cuts. Click on Protect Our NDIS Alliance’s linktree to access more resources including actions you can take & further information about what is going on. Featuring @orielaa @rowena_sw @ruby.ursula Filmed & edited by @jybubb Music by @hagsmixtape This video was created on the stolen lands of the Yuggera & Turrbal people. First Nations people are twice as likely to experience disability than non-Indigenous Australians and already face many barriers to accessing the scheme or using their funding. The proposed changes to the NDIS neglect to centre the needs of First Nations people or involve them in the development of new processes. LAND BACK.
