Save the date - 26th September 2026 @warnmcr @contactmcr Diluting Lesbian by @rowenagander Diluting Lesbian is a four-hour durational performance in a small shower cubicle, where the performer repeats the word “lesbian” in a ritualized, mantra-like rhythm. Audience members are invited to speak the word to the performer, which is returned to them in their tone, exposing, reflecting, and amplifying how the word is socially held. The constant water threatens to wash the word away, yet it persists, resisting dilution and reclaiming its defining and clarifying power. The performance confronts the lingering stigma and taboo of “lesbian,” transforming its supposed dirtiness into endurance, ritual, and relentless specificity. Over time, repetition, exhaustion, and relational exchange shape the texture and tone of the work, giving it a dynamic, evolving presence. #wlw #lgbt #lgbtmanchester #durationalperformance

Kamp artist residency, Lesvos, Greece Experimental Media & Performativity @creativebodyinstitute A few weeks of slowing down, drawing, swimming, listening, learning and making alongside a beautiful group of artists. Somewhere between the olive trees, bodies, performances and conversations, the landscape started finding its way into my drawings. 🌿 Grateful for the time, space and people, and for everything I’m still processing now that I’m home. I'll share some of the work a little later... @raegan.truax @rowenagander @alexxzorila @offbyamark @orbit_alma @devika_bilimoria #sappho #lesvos #greece #artistresidency #creativebodyinstitute

Bed Death (2024) explores the ‘death’ of an intimate relationship. Throughout the 4-hour durational work, the lesbian performance artist, Rowena Gander, aggressively destroys a bed to signify the emotions one might experience when two people in a relationship are no longer compatible. The audience are invited to share reflections on their own relationships in written form. #wlw #performanceart #lgbt+ #lesbian #artist
