From a “for sale” listing to a gift that crossed three states.

Marietta College’s PR2 sculler is racing the single at the Head of the Schuylkill this Saturday.

The team believed pontoons were required, so they set out to buy some.

PRF’s volunteer Taylor spotted Hingham High School Rowing Association selling four.

One email later, Hingham donated them, plus another piece of adaptive kit.

PRF collected everything at the Head of the Charles and passed it to Marietta’s coaches for the trip home to Ohio.

And a call with race organisers confirmed only PR1 athletes need pontoons, so this sculler can race their way.

Thank you, Hingham, for your generosity, and good luck to Marietta on the water!

PRF’s work only continues through your generosity; please donate.

The ROW OF LIFE Live Q&A was a remarkable conversation, and now you can revisit it, for free, in full, using the links below.

If you haven’t yet seen Soraya Simi’s extraordinary docufilm about Angela Madsen, you can watch it here:

https://rowoflife.vhx.tv

If you joined us live for the conversation with Soraya, Deb Madsen, and Kathryn Ross PLY, hosted by PRF, we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.

We gained a unique insight into Angela the person, athlete, pioneer, and force of nature, and discovered that she is apparently more than one person’s spirit animal.

If you missed the Q&A, or would like to revisit it, you can now watch the full recording here:

https://youtu.be/mFk4RIrk-9A

Para Rowing Foundation is a pioneering non-profit creating opportunities and removing barriers for athletes with disabilities around the world, helping them fulfil their potential through rowing.

As we said during the Q&A, we can honour Angela’s legacy by helping the next generation of para rowers find their own opportunities through the sport.

With Deb’s full support, if you would like to support PRF’s work, a donation will directly benefit athletes with disabilities who need it most:

https://pararowingfoundation.org/donate

If you’d like to learn more about PRF you can do so here:

Thank you to everyone who watched, joined the conversation and helped us celebrate Angela’s extraordinary life and legacy.

#RowOfLife #AngelaMadsen #Docufilm #ParaRowing #everyBODYrowing In bold white letters over a drone shot of a transoceanic boat on the sea are the words “Para Rowing Foundation presents a film by Soraya Simi. Row of life. Watch the Q&A. Available now.”

Made the film. Lived the story. Raced against Angela.

Three perspectives come together for one global conversation:

Soraya Simi - Director of ROW OF LIFE
Deb Madsen - Angela’s wife and a central voice in the film
Kathryn Ross PLY - Paralympian, Para Rowing Foundation Board member and Angela’s competitor at Beijing 2008

Moderated by Steven Dowd, with audience questions.

No specialist rowing knowledge is needed. This is a conversation about courage, freedom, love, disability, ambition, risk and human possibility.

Watch the film, then join us live.

One woman was alone on the Pacific.
Another was carrying the journey from home.

ROW OF LIFE is an adventure documentary, but at its heart is the relationship between Angela Madsen and her wife, Deb Madsen.

Separated by a vast ocean, Deb champions Angela’s dream from land while Angela pursues the unknown at sea.

On 6/7 October, Deb will join filmmaker Soraya Simi and Paralympian Kathryn Ross for a free live conversation about Angela, the film and the life behind the records.

Santa and Mrs. Claus needed the help of 7 #rowdeer for a practice run of Christmas Eve through Washingron DC. Many people don't know this....BUT Due to the federal regulations regarding flight and aviation near the White House- Santa had to get creative so he could deliver toys to boys and girls all over the world. Using the row deer to help him fly on the waters surface is just one of the many ways he's developed. Santa wouldn't let me photograph his face, but he wanted to thank Potomac Boat Club for helping him deliver gifts to District residents -using the mystical rowdeer- since 1869!! Santa made sure to help himself to a post workout snack of cookies and egg nog when they landed safely at the dock . #carboloading #districtsanta #fit #potomacboatclub @potomacboatclub #hohorow #thefitdistrict #jeniferforbesphotography #Christmas #jlracing #croker #empacher #potomacstar @jlracing @michelleobama @barakobamaa @the_white_house #keybridge #rooseveltisland #christmasindc #dcchristmas #2016 #differentkindofflying #rowing #row #puddles #thefitdistrict #igdc #just_rowing @just_rowing #merrychristmasyafilthyanimal #cheer #bright #merry #merryandbright #wild

We’ve had a very fun couple of months skate and classical skiing up here at the @craftsburyoutdoorcenter but now it’s time to prepare for our spring training trip to DeLand, FL and GAINSville, GA so we can get back in our singles and get ready for the first round of racing in April.
To celebrate, the @greenracingproject scooped out a foot and a half of crusty snow and ice from the bed of our trailer. Can’t wait to test out the new boats 🌿🚣🏻‍♀️🎿

Fourteen Guinness World Records.
Three Paralympic Games.
A Paralympic bronze medal in shot put.
The first paraplegic woman to row solo across the Atlantic.

Those achievements tell us what Angela Madsen did. They do not tell us what freedom meant to her, what kept drawing her towards the unknown or how she changed what other people believed was possible.

That is the person at the centre of ROW OF LIFE 🎬 the acclaimed docufilm by Soraya Simi.

The film is 82 minutes and costs $5 to rent. Watch it before Para Rowing Foundation’s free global live Q&A on 6/7 October.

What a World Rowing Championships!

Huge congratulations to every athlete who raced in Amsterdam, and to the coaches, organisers and countless people behind the scenes who made it possible. 👏

World titles won and lost. Extraordinary racing across the programme.

In para specifically, 130 athletes across five boat classes delivered some of the season’s most exciting competition.

Eva Mol was just 0.32 seconds from bronze at halfway in the PR1 W1x.

Germany came through China with around 60 metres remaining to win the PR2 Mix2x.

The USA rowed through Great Britain to end a major-championship unbeaten run in the PR3 Mix4+ stretching back to 2010.

…and there was plenty more.

This wasn’t just inclusion in sport. It was great sport.

Six athletes PRF has supported at different points in their journeys raced in Amsterdam, representing four countries and winning four medals between them.

Perhaps the biggest thing to celebrate was the stage itself.

Para rowing wasn’t somewhere else. It was an integral part of the World Championships.

Same regatta. Same course. Same programme. Same world stage.

Give athletes what they need to compete at their best, give them an equal place on the world stage, and let the sport speak for itself.

Eva Mol competed for the Netherlands in the PR1 Women’s Single Sculls on home water.
She is also a PRF-supported athlete. Eva Mol is a powerful white female para rower with blonde hair tied up in a bun, wearing a bright white visor and a bright orange Dutch national team vest. We see her side-on and in mid competition, in full lean-back over her fixed seat and holding the oar handles into her chest. She is working hard, powering the boat through the water.
In the background, slightly out of focus, is a large orange and blue billboard with ‘World Rowing Championships’ written prominently in white text.
