I got this comic in the mail from the great @roxannarawrt (who you should all follow if you aren’t already).
It’s about filming yourself throwing trash, which is a very relatable thing to do as everyone knows.
Thank you!

Highlighting Exhibit Artists: Dolores Guerrero is a great artist, teacher, woman, & spirit, a veteran, multifaceted, talented, & hardworking artist. So honored for Ms. Guerrero's participation in this art movement & exhibit. We've so much respect for you & your beautiful works. We're thrilled to be able to continue to exhibit your pieces. Thank you so very much for all your contributions! We all know the good art does in the world & the importance of artists. Don't miss out on a chance to collect a piece from this amazing artist & other big-hearted artists while supporting good causes.

Dolores Guerrero attended CSULA, UC,Davis and UCLA in the 1970’s majoring in Painting/Printmaking & Design. Her association with Self Help Graphic, a fine art screen printing organization, began in 1975, where she was first introduced to the screen print media. She taught screen printing on the Barrio Mobil. She found a love for the media & has continued to produce prints throughout her life.

In 1990, Guerrero organized a team to begin promoting the now nationwide Day of the Dead. It was a total success. The event went from about 100 participants to 3000 & today several thousands. Several other Chicano organizations throughout the U.S. became part of this wonderful experience which has a long history of our ancestors, our heritage & an important part for our Latino communities.

Guerrero has exhibited & taught workshops in both screen printing & art throughout the United States & Mexico. Her exhibitions include The Museum of Modern Art in New York, The Herbert Humphrey Museum at Cornell University, The Hammer Museum in West LA, & the LA CountyMuseum of Art to name a few. Many universities & museum have collected her artwork as part of their permanent collection & she is depicted in books such as “Triumphs of Our Communities, Four Decades of Mexican American Art” by the Smithsonian Institute, & “Rising Voices” a video presentation as well as a book by Nestles Inc., in which her life as an artist is depicted.

Viven en nuestros corazones y recuerdos. Featured in our Día de los Muertos virtual exhibition, “La Ofrenda”. Tour the 3D exhibition room by visiting stayarts.org/la-ofrenda (link in bio).

Slide 1 – 3
Ellie Cota – “Una Concha"
Acrylic, colored pencil & graphite on water color paper on wood panel mounting
9” x 12”
Una concha blanca y flores nuevas are what my mom leaves abuelita. Mom always has a shrine of my grandma tucked nicely in the corner of our living room. Every Day of the Dead she places fresh new flowers and lights her candle. This piece was inspired by grandma’s display.

Slide 4 & 5
David A. Martinez – “en la casa de Cristina”
Charcoal and pastel chalk on bristol paper
11” x 14”
My work “en la casa de Cristina” is inspired by childhood memories of my grandma's house in Durango, Mexico. Memories of Chinese checkers on the kitchen table, Spanish-dubbed cartoons, jewelry boxes, empty rooms and big windows that overlap and intermingle. This drawing is a dedication to Cristina's house and all the games we played in her kitchen. My grandmother passed away in 2015.

Slide 6 – 8
Roxanna Rendon Agin – “Rendon Abuelito y Abuelita”
Oil on canvas
16” x 20”
My grandparents passed away about 10 years ago and although I had been around them plenty of times, I had not really gotten the chance to know them. I wanted to honor them in a painting since I did not have a picture of them together. I wanted to show my appreciation of my family and have a sense of connection to them.
