Nicole was one of the teens in my husband’s youth group when we were first married in MN, figuring out life together. Now she and I are friends, and she’s the best to visit in NYC. ✨ I got to shoot her wedding, but best of all, our kiddos got to join us and have an amazing time watching a beautiful marriage begin at a place as sacred as this (and they got to tear up the dance floor lol🤸🏼‍♀️) We were talking about how getting married at this Cathedral means leaning into the darkness in the photos and depth of it all. Let’s back it up just a little bit to October 2025, when Ally and Jakob got MARRIED along the Minnesota North Shore!! I’m super excited to share their story because both A&J (with their families) TRAVELED to Minnesota from Ohio and other places to elope here! YES!! Their destination elopement in MINNESOTA!! (Can you tell I’m super excited about this? Minnesota is FINALLY getting the recognition and love it deserves!) These two completely trusted me to guide them along the planning process, including recommendations for locations they’d absolutely love!! And I was so excited for them to experience the North Shore for the very first time on their elopement day. (Oh and it SHOWED off with perfect weather for them!) We started the day at Palisade Head and Black Beach, where they got to explore around, exchange their vows privately, and just soak it all in. b After they soaked all of it in, we drove back to their Airbnb/Vrbo where their families were staying and that’s where they had their ceremony with their families. It was completely private and SO perfect! After their ceremony was done and we documented their family photos, it was time for some delicious dinner to wrap up the night. I mean…. that’s a pretty perfect way to spend your elopement day, right?!
