POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

It feels so damn good to be BACK! 🥂✨

And celebrating our girl Alexis’ bday was the perfect excuse for the shenanigans to ensue! After spending so much time isolated and locked in writing my book, this weekend was exactly what I needed. Beautiful weather, a beautiful boat, my girls, nonstop laughing, singing, cutting up and living life to the absolute fullest.

Champagne was consumed, caviar bumps were taken, delicious food was eaten, and most importantly, NEW MEMORIES WERE MADE! 💃🏾🥂

Oh, how I missed this. ❤️

August, you have been GOOD to me.

Yes, my birthday was August 6th, and yes, I’m just now getting around to making this reel. But maybe that’s the best part. I was too busy actually living my life to stop and post about it.

I spent the week surrounded by friendship, laughter and love.

Kicked off the week with my friend Jill (missing Pilar)!
I went to my Hampton University alumni picnic, spent time with my cousin Aimee before she started an exciting new chapter, and received the most beautiful flowers and words of encouragement from my cousin Clarence, who has supported me throughout my journey of writing this book.

Then came my birthday and the celebration of something I’ve dreamed about for YEARS: announcing my two book deal and Pod Wives.

And because apparently that wasn’t enough joy for one month, I hopped on a plane to Chicago and spent a few wonderful days with my girl Angela, eating, laughing, exploring and enjoying LIFE.

One of the most special moments was visiting the Obama Presidential Center. Standing there, I felt this incredible sense of magic and pride. Thinking about the history, the possibility, and what it represents made the experience so much bigger than simply visiting a place. It was one of those moments that stays with you.

Now here I am… 49. The last year of my 40s.

I’m entering this year with so much gratitude for my family, lifelong friendships, Hampton, the people who have poured into me, dreams that arrived right on time, experiences that remind me of how much is possible, and the woman I’ve become along the way.

If this is how 49 is starting, I have a feeling it’s going to be one hell of a year.

Living it first. Posting it later. And grateful for every damn bit of it.

You may have noticed I popped back onto the scene. Between summer camps, family travel to Cooperstown, and most recently a girls’ trip, I found myself spending less time online and more time living the very things midlife calls us to do—finding more moments of joy, light, and presence in the middle of it all. Let’s just call it Sweet July...
It all came together at the last minute. Each of us arrived carrying the weight of our own lives—aging parents, demanding careers, illness and healing, marriage, divorce, children entering middle school, high school, and preparing for college.
Life doesn’t stop asking things of women. But for a few days, our responsibilities became lighter.
We laughed. We cried. We lingered over delicious meals. We slept. We bore witness to one another’s stories. We remembered who we were outside of all the roles we carry.
Because being witnessed by people who know your history—who don’t need an explanation or a polished story—is a healing modality all its own.
And for one unforgettable day, we were carried away on a boat in the middle of the Potomac. Floating on the water without a single person asking what’s for dinner was the exact prescription we needed.

Medicine doesn’t always come in a bottle or in a nourishing tea.
Sometimes it looks like a text that says, “Let’s go.”
Sometimes it’s friends who make space for each other.
Sometimes it’s permission to simply be.
That’s the kind of medicine life has come to be.
Not escaping our lives—but returning to ourselves within them.#midlifewomen #bloomandblaze

Throwback post✨ Not everyone you cross paths with leaves a mark, but his warmth and kindness to me so many years ago when I was a junior TV exec spoke volumes. 🙏🏾 Congratulations to the phenomenal Coleman Domingo on the prestigious NAACP Image Awards President’s Award and heartfelt speech. ✨🖤 #ColemanDomingo #PresidentsAward #NAACPImageAwards #Representation #BlackExcellence
