History is part of the everyday right? We did a Rococopunk themed event at @illusionmagiclounge and celebrated our friends joining in matrimony. This show almost didn’t happen, but we are so glad that it did. Huge thank you to @thecharmingconjuror for stepping in and giving us fabulous lighting and @illusionmagiclounge for letting us hop into the schedule to make this happen.

Exactly ten years ago today, on 2/12/16, my first feature ALREADY TOMORROW IN HONG KONG opened in theaters.

On the way to opening night, I was sick with nerves. I had no idea if anyone would show up, if anyone would like the film, or if I’d ever get to make another movie again.

I wish I could tell that version of myself that she didn’t need to worry. The house would be packed. The critics would like the film. And not only will she get to make more films, ten years later, she’d head back to NYC for the Emmys, where her latest film is nominated for two awards.

All because one night, I wandered the streets of Hong Kong talking to a guy… only to find out later he had a girlfriend. And decided to make a movie about it.

Sometimes you don’t get the guy. But you get the life you’ve always dreamed of instead.

May— My birthday month! It’s always beautifully timed during ren faire season! Had some absolutely glorious times with friends, I dressed as my true self (just bright as hell costume explosion), and had a bar hangout with more of my faves. I feel so grateful to have such an amazing community of friends 💫

April— Neotropolis! My first time at this absolutely life-changing event. Part LARP, part desert rave, all cyberpunk, and all full of the absolute best artistic weirdos.

February—feat. hiking @angelicrockwood ; vampire movie night (with amazing charcuterie!) with @barefooteilonwy @royalgnomeness @kiricallaghan and Angelique; guest performing with Ramtop Morris as the fool and as sketch artist; and working on Mythic Camp designs (the mythology LARP camp I design for!)

AND WHAT A WONDERFUL NIGHT IT WAS. I will never get over what a special experience it was to be in the orchestra for Wicked: One Wonderful Night.

It began with chairography/flowerography from the films’ choreographer and impossibly got better from there with every new surprise. The climax was Cynthia flying above our heads. I MEAN, WHAT?!

See if you can spot us in the audience, probably sobbing with joy.
