Our EP ‘Does Heaven Ever Mourn For Me’ came out a few days ago. With this release lining up with our first shows of the year, these last few days have been incredibly hectic and I haven’t really had the chance to reflect on what got us here and what this all means. The writing process for this started last summer when we all went to a cabin in the middle of the Ohio woods. From beginning to end, the entire process for this EP was completely different than any of our previous releases and it was nerving and exciting. As members have come in and out of this band, the current iteration has always maintained that we stay true to the Moths sound. When we wrote our last record Cycles, we were collectively trying to write a record that showcased everyone at 10 while maintaining said mantra. It’s a good record and I’m really proud of it. But as it aged, we realized that it wasn’t necessarily the most fun to play live. So with this newest body of work, a few things we prioritized were (from my perspective):
stay true to the moths sound, have consideration for potentially playing these songs 100 times over on tour, and keep it fresh. What ended up developing, I think, is our strongest body of work to date. I like to think we nailed every objective we had going into it and then some. We very much put our blood, sweat and tears into this. Our heart and soul. And I couldn’t be more proud of the growth and this showcase. It takes a village and I want to thank our team—everyone involved, in making this come to fruition. I’m grateful to be an adult in a band still trying to live a dream. And I’m thankful for everyone and anyone that has ever given me the time of day to hit some drums. Tour starts soon and I’m itching to play these tracks. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

siamo naufragati al @fritzfestival settimana scorsa per visitare lo SPAZZIO ripopolato del Polo Culturale Cappuccini.

esperienza surreale attraverso gli occhi di @straniero1 . abbiamo fatto un giro in motorino per il paese di Sala Consilina, conosciuto @geometricbang e il suo intervento artistico al festival, giocato a sasso carta forbici con @alberto.pepe e provato ad imbrogliare durante una guerra dei pollici con @saragioielli 💍

grazie anche a @civa_cibo.vagabondo per averci fatto incartare qualche focaccia e servire i nostri amici fritz.

una chiamata dalla luna ci chiede di ritornare alla base e cambiare rotta. Ci vediamo in giro per il SUD.

SPAZZI NEL MONDO: Welcome @gudskul (Jakarta, Indonesia) 😳 🌏

We believe in the redistribution of art and its opportunities outside what used to be known as centers of global capital, that is why we started our journey in the South of Italy and why our first international SPAZZIO is not in NY, LA, London, Milan or Paris. But in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Indonesia has a large artistic ecosystem & like many other Majority World Countries often develop particular non conventional strategies to access financial opportunities for further development.

GUDSKUL not only tries to bring together artists from around the country to try and fill this gap, but crucially is a place where art transcends individual practice and becomes collective action (#NONGKRONG) and territorial engagement, a vision we very much believe in too and want to support globally going forward.

To put it more plainly, from today GUDSKUL is on SPAZZI, and we are so proud to have our Indonesian allies join us as our very first international collaborators on this journey. Thank you so much @rakunteur , @budicole, (@ruangrupa, @serrum_studio, @grafishuruhara) that are building this bridge with us.
