The work of gallery artist Frank Romero is currently on view at Autry Museum of the American West in Los Angeles California as part of the exhibition Life, Liberty, and Los Angeles. The exhibition will be on view until January 31, 2027.

“Join us as we explore the meanings behind some of the most powerful words in the Declaration of Independence from the Autry’s signature perspective: “The View From Here.” Los Angeles, from its beginnings, has been a place of competing claims to life, liberty, and happiness. This exhibition shares the stories of diverse Angelenos and how their ideas of life, liberty, and happiness inspired the city’s growth and amplified the opportunities and contradictions expressed in the nation’s founding principles. Historical and contemporary objects, media, and art combine with community collaborations to bring this history to life. Life, Liberty, and Los Angeles invites you to step into a conversation that has been shaping Los Angeles for more than two hundred years and to see the United States—its past and its future—in a new way.”

The new works in On The Edge carry forward the clear, precise line, bold color, and compelling message of Carrasco’s UFW works in paintings celebrating powerful women in southern California politics, civil rights, and the arts. A large portrait of Dolores Huerta executed in vibrant pink and purple against a teal background anchors the exhibition. Huerta has been a friend and mentor to Carrasco dating back to the 1980s, and Carrasco carries her social justice work forward as a founding member and board member of the Dolores Huerta Foundation. Carrasco’s portrait of Huerta adopts the language of screenprinting—a medium so identified with civil rights movements and mass demonstrations—yet the scale of the canvas here allows for an immediacy that sets it apart. Especially now, with this series Carrasco reminds us that the movement is bigger than any one person, and lives on in anyone committed to improving lives of those around them.

Huge congratulations to Michael Govan and his teams at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art on their crowning achievement, that is the construction and installation of the new David Geffen Galleries!

We are honored and beyond thrilled to see Carlos Almaraz included in this inaugural installation! LACMA has been the site of many major milestones for Carlos, from his first institutional exhibition in 1974 as a member of Los Four, to his career retrospective in 2017, to today.

Honored to be the inaugural recipient of the SAFER Fellowship. Thank you all for your generosity, support, and for attending the reception at The Somos Group.
@thesomosgroup launched the SAFER Community Artist-in-Residence Fellowship to broaden how we think about city-building—affirming that art and culture are integral to the social and civic fabric of our communities.
The fellowship reflects SAFER’s larger mission: supporting mission-driven organizations that promote economic development, equity, environmental sustainability, and community resilience—especially in historically under-resourced communities.
The concept is simple and powerful: artists receive an unrestricted stipend while their work is prominently displayed in the Somos headquarters, reinforcing the belief that cultural workers deserve not only respect, but fair compensation.
The initiative is strengthened by champions like LA City Councilwoman @cd6losangeles, who joined the kickoff event and spoke about the profound role art has played in her own life and in the communities she represents.
At SAFER, art is not a supplemental part of urban infrastructure—it’s essential. Their work ensures that art remains central to our communities while supporting artists with the resources and visibility needed to sustain their practice.

A beautiful homecoming kind of night ✨ celebrating the opening of “Frida: The Making of an Icon” at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.

So meaningful to reconnect with so many familiar faces from California—artists, collectors, curators, and gallerists who lent works to the exhibition. Especially honored to see legendary Chicana artists Amalia Mesa-Bains, Carmen Lomas Garza, and Esther Hernández (with Astrid Hadad!).

Wonderful to see artists Joey Terrill (with curator Rafael Barrientos Martinez), Danie Cansino, and Manuel López, whose works are featured in the show.

Great to reconnect with gallerists Charlie James and Luis de Jesus, curator Gilbert Vicario of the Bakersfield Museum of Art, and photographer Delilah Montoya. And of course it’s always wonderful to hang out with artist Karen Navarro.

I was also happy to finally meet Dr. Gabriela Baeza Ventura, the director of Arte Público Press, and to see Karen Lubetkin Desenberg, and other Houston collectors, including Ruth Dreessen and Thomas Van Laan.

Honored to be acknowledged alongside fellow lenders, and to lend a Richard S. Duardo print to the exhibition.

A magnificent museum, a powerful show—and huge congratulations to Mari-Carmen Ramírez, Cindy Peña, Arden Decker, and the entire team responsible for bringing it all together. 🔥

Happening on Saturday at the Chicano Park Museum and Cultural Center: An engaging panel discussion inspired by the current exhibition ‘Ramsés Noriega: Fragmentos Del Barrio.’

The panel brings together artist Ramsés Noriega, curator Rafael Barrientos Martínez, CPMCC founder Josie Talamantez, and Professor Denise Lugo. This conversation offers a chance to connect more deeply with the art and the people behind it. There will also be a limited number of ‘Fragments Del Barrio’ exhibition catalogues, featuring works by Noriega. A very limited amount are available this weekend during the discussion panel, where visitors may have a chance to get it signed.

The panel discussion will be held in the museum’s main gallery on Saturday January 10th from 1pm-4pm. Chicano Park Museum and Cultural Center is located at 1960 National Avenue in San Diego, CA. RSVP is required for this event, please follow the link in our bio to confirm your participation.

Opening on January 29th at our Camden Annex space will be ‘Ramsés Noriega: De Sonora a Los Ángeles’, with an opening reception planned for that evening from 6-8pm. Stay tuned for more details to come.
