We want to thank every one of you who played a part in this achievement.

To those who stepped onto the mats today and gave everything they had, and to everyone who spent the past several months helping their teammates prepare for this challenge—this result belongs to all of us.

The challenge was accepted months ago, and from that moment, the commitment to represent our team with great Jiu-Jitsu was evident in every training session. The work, dedication, and support we showed each other made today possible.

Congratulations to our entire team! We are proud of every one of you.

Together, we are stronger.

“We rise by lifting others.” — Robert G. Ingersoll

We’re already looking forward to the next challenge. See you all back on the mats next week!

“Sometimes forgiveness means grieving the apology that never came — and finding peace anyway. 💔✨

In this episode of Strategies for Living, we sit down with Dr. Richard Balkin, author of Practicing Forgiveness: A Path Toward Healing, to explore what forgiveness really means. Is it the same as reconciliation? How do we release resentment while honoring our pain?

🎧 Tune in for an honest, hopeful conversation about healing, boundaries, and the freedom that comes with letting go.

“Review

Saw the wineskins tonight. They each enjoyed playing in the same and different ways. The same being their love entertaining us and simply playing music that for the most part they wrote lyrics and music. Keith keeps the flow moving with his stories and guitar, Jeff’s body never stops vibing and he’s pleased to be in the moment. Greg is trancelike while he plays several different instruments. All very well.
The Wineskins harmonize with the best.I saw joy in each of the band members.

And the audience moved with them.”

Two of our wonderful faculty members, Drs. Rick Balkin and Alexandria K. Hodges, along with Dr. Jason Nannest, recently presented their research at the Association for Assessment and Research in Counseling (AARC) National Conference. Their study explored the emotional states we experience when dealing with forgiveness, karma, and revenge.

Key Findings:

1️⃣ Karma brings more happiness: We feel happier when someone who has harmed us faces consequences without our intervention, compared to when we forgive or seek revenge.

2️⃣ Desire for Forgiveness: Despite its challenges, we desire forgiveness more than karma or revenge.

3️⃣ Forgiveness and Anxiety: Forgiving can make us more anxious than experiencing karma.

4️⃣ Sadness in Forgiveness: We experience more sadness when we forgive than when we seek revenge or witness karma.

Their presentation began with the powerful idea: “I think the human organism knows what it needs and is always moving toward health within every child. There is an organismic wisdom that enables a child to make appropriate choices and to move toward health; therefore, the most caring thing the therapist can do is not to intervene.”

They concluded with a profound message: “We must wait for children to discover themselves, and it is in this process of the therapy relationship that children are allowed to become the person they are. In that process, I trust the child to take our relationship to where the child needs to be.”

We are proud of their contributions and the impactful work they are doing in the field of counseling!

What’s up Team?

As many of you know or have heard our beloved Lawson Brines will be moving to the Dallas area at the end of the month to take a position running a gym. This Saturday at 10am we will have an “open mat” training session followed by food and fellowship. This session is open to EVERYONE!!!

We will roll for any hour or so then we can fellowship. If you can’t make it to train, feel free to stop by to say your goodbyes and grab a plate of food. I will supply pulled pork sandwiches for everyone and any sides, snacks, drinks, plates, napkins, etc. that you can bring would be amazing. If you plan on bringing something or want to know what to bring you can text me at 662-902-6370. We look forward to celebrating with you this Saturday.
