🇺🇸 “Nate Butler, for the snowboarders of the mid-1980’s, was the Quimbola man. He literally created snowboard clothing and an industry. From 2000 on, as Bloodnickel, he made custom motorcycle race suits. He was the womens 7-11 bicycling team mechanic in the early 1980’s. He was also an accomplished bass player. You can read about his punk days in Denvoid and the cowtown punks. Nate was also a love of my life. He was dynamic, brilliant and a hedonist. The best friend or the worst. He was human to the fullest. He lived life to the edge - snowboarding and motorcycle racing. Nate contracted HIV in the early 1990’s and had “full blown” AIDS by 2000, due to radical denial. His doctors pulled him through and got him on a cocktail and was HIV undetectable by 2012. Nate was diagnosed with third stage cancer in the summer of 2018 then given just weeks to live. On the morning of September 21, 2019, he took his life in his sewing room. I miss Nate, so much. I packed up and left Colorado.
