KHWAB 30/07/2026 @khw4b__

I dream of my taua and my memories of her from when I was a child to her tangi.
She often comes to visit.
She is always with me.
From my birth to her death, I was stuck to her hip.
Every Matariki I think of our memories together.
Matariki to me feels like a tangi, the time we mourn what has been lost, but also the time we come together as a whānau, to share memories, laughter, kai and tangi.
Memories often feel like a dream, and dreams are often made up of memories.
This is my dream, a moko looking for her taua.

Thank you to Mona Vasa (Sāmoan, Pākehā) for helping me translate my poems, Paris Porter (Kāi tahu) for narrating the voice of my taua and Joshua Gerslov (Pākehā) for helping me record my poems.

Western Line LIVE
David Cowlard and Andrew Moon/RST present a live performance of their city symphony, first presented at the Audio Foundation in September 2023.

The Western Line is the railway line that runs from the city centre of Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland to the outer suburb of Swanson, and back again.

Thousands of people ride the railway on their daily commute. A journey by train allows for a unique experience of the city. Architecture is seen in part, often at speed. The railway cuts through closely packed urban housing, light industry, suburban homes and out into the greener rural landscapes. Graffiti merges with street signs and billboards, and rail passengers view this flickering landscape while thinking of other things, other images.

Western Line expands this fragmented terrain and explores the aural and visual moments where the railway intersects the urban fabric. City and soundscape are interwoven to match the situational experience from the window of the train while also responding to the rhythms of daily life.

ONE NIGHT ONLY
7pm at DEMO,
3 Water Street,
Grafton, Auckland

A limited-edition audio cassette will be on sale for $10 on the night and is also available on Bandcamp
