POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

I posted this in Oct. 2023.

Timeline⬇️

Jan. 2023: gave notice at job

April 2023: started this IG account, had ZERO clue I was ADHD, dyslexic, OCD despite my kids’ diagnoses/struggles, began vomiting out what would be The Overthinking Chronicles

May 2023: taught last class, job over, literally not posting shit here, 20 followers probs

June 2023: Finished book, started seeing content on ADHD nonstop, began to realize “hi, it’s me. I’m the problem, it’s me” lol had no clue it was genetic. 😭

July 2023: I ask Chrissy @redpunksocial (whom I’d met through another account before this one existed) if she wanted to start a podcast on mental health. She counters with “how ‘bout a pod on ADHD + perimenopause.” I still hadn’t been formally diagnosed with ADHD, nor she with Autism.

Aug. 2023: Book launch postponed so I can help my sisters with my dad, who had been diagnosed with incurable cancer. Chrissy & I have our first podcast meeting, I get ADHD diagnosis… still barely engaging or posting on IG

Sept. 2023: my dad passed away, my whole life is flashing before my eyes through the lens of undiagnosed neurodivergence. A multilayered complex grief journey begins & life as I know it changes forever.

I’m sad beyond words, overwhelmed, devastated, completely lost, uninspired, & exhausted. I feel paralyzed with no end in sight.

BUT

I make a decision that will also change my life forever: I lean into this small but mighty community here. All 250 of you. I share my raw vulnerability for the first time, start posting & engaging more & never looked back.

Until now.

And wow. What a difference two years can make.

Oct. 2023: I started showing up here & have made such fantastic friends around the world.

There are lots of new folks here & I bet 99.99% of you haven’t seen this reel. Because you weren’t here then. But you are now. And that’s still me. 2 years + 3 diagnoses later.

Our stories matter. They have the power to change lives. But only if we share them.

What have you overcome?
Lean on this community.
Share a WIN so we can cheer for you.

What do you wish you had known beforehand?

I, for one, wish I had known I was not alone!

Well guess what?

🎁There’s a whole frikkin’ podcast/community #screaming about this very topic: the intersection of neurodivergence + peri/menopause & the havoc it wreaks on our bodies, brains, mental health & relationships. But with loud obnoxious laughter. And loads of swearing.

Y’all remember 10 years ago when Henchi won Third Best Household Pet at the cat show but we all knew he should have won first? 🥹

Fearless? Not exactly.
Fear-fueled & doing it anyway?
Yep.

When you finally accept that your life has been one giant sh!tt show & you keep forgetting your umbrella ☔ cause ADHD & you realize “ADHD NOT just be like that *sometimes*”
but more like ADHD just be like that 🤣🤣🤣
why fight it?

Time to turn the drama into comedy!

I’m continually learning to embrace the uncontrollable & uncertainty.

I’m still learning to live fearlessly & it’s hard, so might as well just have a good laugh while we’re at it.

Ok? Ok.
Let’s go make some memories, even if they’re unintentionally hilarious. 🎉

What’s your most recent ‘fkc it, we ball’ moment?

I’ve been working on a book of unhinged badass affirmations for over a year now (among other books) but I’ve been afraid to publish it. I need your help! CONVINCE ME TO DO IT.

Like, how do you convince yourself to do scary things?

TBH I was afraid to post this because I had just woken up & “looked like hell” but I said “fkc it” MESSY HAIR DONT FKN CARE! You’re welcome!

So, drop your go-to self-pep-talk zingers, no matter how unhinged… actually, the more unhinged, the better… in the comments.

Share this to motivate your people & tag someone who always empowers you!

You’re a badass! You know that, right?!
