Thanks so much to everyone who joined us for our Bolay Visual Artists Cafe yesterday - what a fantastic day for creative thinkers to merge and exchange ideas.

35 artists had the opportunity to meet one-on-one with curators and attend presentations and workshops throughout the day.

We are so grateful to Visual Artists Ireland for partnering with us for the event, to Bridge St Bar for hosting us and for Cafe Rua providing us with a spectacular spread to keep us fuelled for the afternoon.

Thank you to Emer Ferran from VAI for the organisation and to the curators who joined us on the day: Davey Moor, Dermot Browne, Catherine Hemelryk and Niamh Darling. Also thanks goes to curator and mentor Dr. Marianne O'Kane Boal.

The Cafe will be followed by a 5 month mentorship programme with Marianne and 5 Mayo artists culminating in an exhibition in the Linenhall in 2027.

✨ TWO NOMINATIONS! ✨

We are absolutely delighted and incredibly humbled to share that Dining Room has received TWO nominations in the prestigious Food & Wine Awards 2026 — for Best Restaurant and Best Chef – Connaught. 🥂

This year feels particularly special as we celebrate 10 years of Dining Room. Ten years of cooking, creating, learning, laughing, challenges, celebrations and, most importantly, welcoming so many wonderful guests through our doors. ❤️

To have our little restaurant named alongside some of the finest restaurants and hotels in the country is something we never take for granted. We are incredibly grateful to our amazing team, our loyal customers and everyone who has supported us along the way.

And, of course, congratulations to all of our fellow Mayo nominees:

✨ House of Plates – Barry Ralph
✨ An Port Mor – Frankie Mallon
✨ Infused – Westport
✨ Savoire Faire – Westport
✨ Misunderstood Heron – Westport
✨ Café Rua – Castlebar
✨ Ashford Castle – Cong

It’s fantastic to see so much talent and recognition for Mayo’s food scene. 💚

Thank-you @foodandwineireland, @gnelis1
& @glassredwine for including us.

Good luck to everyone nominated! 🥂

And as for our 10th birthday celebrations… more about that later! 😉

Meet the Midlands North West! I had a great time travelling around Mayo and Donegal over the past couple of days. I started in Cong, Co. Mayo, for a friend’s wedding in @thelodgeashford, which is a beautiful venue. The flags and bunting were still out across the county, including in places such as Foxford, Ballina and Headford, after @gaamayo_official’s historic win in the All-Ireland Final. Some other pit stops in cafes on my journey included @ruacaferua in Castlebar and @flannerysbistro in Ballinrobe, which offers fantastic food.

In Donegal, I was in Clonmany as the locals were preparing for the @clonmanyfestival1. I also attended the @Glen_show in Glencolmcille with the Donegal Fine Gael team. On my way up to the beautiful Malin Head, I stopped by the Doagh Famine Village, which shows how rural families battled through the Great Famine.

The Midlands North West has so many gems, and it was an excellent few days seeing what Mayo and Donegal have to offer to Ireland’s tourism sector.

Sunshine, tennis, great food and even better company… what more could you ask for? ☀️🎾🍔

The PTSB Castlebar TC Senior Open served up some fantastic tennis yesterday with plenty of closely fought matches, brilliant rallies and smiles all around.

Off the court, our spectators enjoyed the sunshine while our BBQ kept everyone fuelled for the day. A huge thank you to all of our players, volunteers, supporters and sponsors for helping to create such a fantastic atmosphere.

We’re back again today with more exciting matches as players continue their quest for the titles. If you’re looking for a great day out, drop by, grab a burger and enjoy some top-class tennis!

What a lovely way to end a fabulous week doing tastings in Rua 💚❤️Meeting so many happy Mayo people and people simply proud to be visiting Mayo. The team Mayo GAA and Sam 💚❤️ passed by too. Domhall Waldron our cousin and producer of the fresh milk that goes into our award winning Cloonbook, also called in to say hi as well wine expert and food writer Glass of Red Wine Cathal Mc Bride as so many more people, friends from Castlebar and Claremorris and beyond. Thank you Rua for the invite. I thoroughly enjoyed it and now I’m going to have a glass of fabulous wine with some Cloonbook myself @glassredwine @ruacaferua @gaamayo_official @mayo.ie @domhnallwaldron @claremorris_chamber #mayo #cheese

Good morning Mayo,💚❤️💚❤️

Where do I even start? What a last few days. I'm losing my voice. The feeling is just incredible. It's so hard to describe. I wish we could bottle it and I hope it lasts for so long in this wonderful community of County Mayo. It's not over yet.

We're so proud of our own Dara Byrne, who everybody has known since he's been a few years old playing football with the junior Shepherds and the team. Sam will be coming to Clare Maris tomorrow and of course we'll all be out there to support him.💚❤️

I'm never one to shy away from publicity so I'm going to go down to Rua in Castlebar on Friday. I'm going to be doing tastings of all our sheep soon products so come and see us there and let's just keep this Mayo feeling going. It's fantastic. It's no longer Mayo for Sam, it's Mayo Got Sam! @claremorrisgaa @claremorris_chamber @ruacaferua #Mayo #MayosGotSam💚❤️💚❤️💚❤️
