Still taking in my first LA Fashion Week runway moment with @Black_Design_Collective and @ArtHeartsFashion!

Seeing @matrixhandles bring my @MaisonBonds upcycled, deconstructible overall set to life reminded me why I fell in love with creating in the first place.

Inspired by Patrick Kelly, “Threads of Joy” gave me room to play, reimagine, and turn something familiar into something entirely my own. From the sewing machine to backstage to the runway… what a journey.

The Lion Cub in me is so Happy 🦁

My first fashion show. My first LA Fashion Week. 🥹

Last night, I hit the runway with @Black_Design_Collective at LA Fashion Week with @ArtHeartsFashion, where the theme was “Threads of Joy” and our muse was Patrick Kelly. It felt so good to walk alongside my model @matrixhandles wearing my upcycled, deconstructible overall set.

Growing up, I LOVED overalls and have been wanting to get back into them. Creating my own version, with pieces that detach and transform, exceeded my expectations. Much like this journey.

Walking in Fashion Week was never on my vision board. But less than a year after pivoting into fashion, seeing my work on the runway reminded me that the pivot was not in vain. There’s joy in discovering a part of yourself you didn’t know was waiting to be expressed.

If this is just the beginning, and “the rest is history,” as they say, I’m excited to see what history has in store! 👀

Feeling more of a sense of community lately 🥰 one thing I’ve always yearned for when seeking work in LA! In a way I’ve created the community every where I’ve worked but no one did that for me as full out as me in return! Feeling so much love lately after feeling down for a good 6 months. It almost feels weird to feel good. But giving myself permission to not stress, I’m doing less work for more and figuring out what I really want to do for the next 5-10 years of my life. Zombie Apocalypse Training School is working! To be clear I would only survive slow zombies, not the fucking fast ones like in World War Z.

My only contribution to my family’s survival will be the ability to move things that weigh 450 pounds or less, which is my new deadlift PR.

Thanks @deuce_gym and to the 9a crew that cheered me on. I’ll try to keep you from being eaten if we’re in the same survival group. (But if it’s the fast ones I’ll lay down and be a meatloaf for them bitches to give you time to escape.)
