50% done 🩺👩🏼‍⚕️

In honor of my first year of nursing school finishing, I wanted to share a few moments from the journey

This year challenged me in ways I never expected. I struggled in my first semester, not only academically, but also in my personal life and health, after undergoing surgery to discover and receive a diagnosis of stage IV endometriosis. Which definitely was not on the bingo card for the year 🤣

While it has been a huge learning curve to navigate a chronic condition in nursing school, it has also helped me become more resilient and compassionate so I can advocate better not only for my own health but my future patients health as well.

There were long days, too many Alani energy drinks, mental breakdowns over pharmacology, plenty of “I cannot do this” moments which were followed by somehow doing it anyway, and enough studying that my Spotify wrapped might just be sound waves at this point.😂

I also met some of the most amazing friends, had the opportunity to be a mentor to a first-semester nursing student, worked my a** off for straight A’s, Deans List and multiple scholarships, and became the new Secretary for OADN (Alpha Delta Nu Honors Society.)

I’ve accepted a hospital intern position and will be working this summer on a Med-Surg unit, I am very excited to see and learn a lot, strengthen my skills and to grow as a student.

Every opportunity I’ve been given and all the growth I’ve made is all thanks to my Alani addiction, lots of chats with classmates or current nurses and most importantly my faith. 🤍
