DJG Endurance athlete @rubymccowan decided to take a long run to another level this weekend at the Teton Crest Trail 🏔️

This workout consisted of 40 miles with 9,500+ feet of elevation gain, making for one incredible day in the mountains!

This isn’t just a long run. It’s a big step toward Project 250 in October, which is a 250 mile race over 5 days, running through 5 National Parks in Utah🏃‍♀️🏔️

Big goals require big training. And this is just one step along the way. I’m excited to be apart of the journey!

Celebrated Ruby's 25th birthday by 35mi in the GC!

It did NOT go as planned 😅

There was an extreme heat advisory with temps in the 100s, and even though we started early, packed 4L water, electrolytes, & fuel-- by 9a my Zone 2 pace was putting me in Zone 5. I had to slow to a walk and was still riding Zone 4. My heat tolerance was low again. Thankfully I have incredible friends who adjusted their pace, let go of our grand plans-- and just let me take the slow pace I needed-- even when it meant we'd run out of water. Ruby, Nathan, Jesse went and got more water, while Elizah & Merina kept me company and laughed with me while I puked up electrolytes and applesauce. It wasn't the adventure I'd envisioned, but it was truly an adventure.

Grateful for friends. Grateful for the Grand Canyon. And glad to see I've got more heat training that needs to be done before my next race.

Have y'all seen Frat Boy Fred? Well I was him today. A puke for every time he's in this reel 😂😂
