There are moments that remind me why I put so much time into training, socialization, and building trust. This was one of them. ☀️🐾

This was Nova’s first time paddle boarding with @sup_pups and watching her confidently explore something completely new was so rewarding.

She trusted me.
I listened to her.
Together we figured it out.

Raising a puppy isn’t just about teaching commands. It’s about building a relationship that gives them the confidence to experience the world by your side.

Thank you, @sup_pups , for such an incredible experience. We can’t wait to get back on the water! 🌊🤍

FIRST TIME PADDLE BOARDING!!

Even though you saw a bunch of these on my story already, they deserved a place on my feed. I knew my water obsessed boy would like it, and he did so much, he probably spent just as much time in the water as he did on the board 🤡 But this was such a special memory for me, doing this with my bubba, the weather, the breeze, just sitting with him (once he tired himself out). This definitely won’t be our last.

TYSM again to @sup_pups for helping me so much and making this experience so much fun. I highly recc everyone go see Sam if you’re in SD. She’s AMAZING!!!

The amount of wagging tails today was unreal.

Lava was off duty today, but that didn’t mean she could forget everything she’s learned. She still had to settle on the board and resist the urge to jump in. Mission accomplished because neither of us ended up in the water… at least not by accident. We did wade in for a bit at the end to cool off because it was HOT.

Such a fun morning. Thanks, Sam @sup_pups for another awesome SUP Pups meetup.

Lava had the absolute time of her life at Ruby’s pool party! Ruby quickly figured out that she didn’t need to fetch her toys because Lava was more than happy to do so for her. It was the cutest thing to watch. Every single time Lava brought the toy back, she happily gave it right to her new friend.

It was so refreshing to spend the day with such wonderful dogs. All four pups, two Labs and two Goldens, were absolute angels. No behavioral problems, no stress, just happy dogs playing together and having the best time.

A huge thank you to Maya for the invitation! We had such a fun day, and Lava can’t wait for her next playdate with Ruby. Happy Birthday, sweet girl!

and yeah… we absolutely did NOT want to leave each other 💔

family is family—no matter how long it’s been.
so if you’re in the area, you already know… you make the meetup happen. no excuses.

guess it’s time to convince mom I need a trip to san diego ASAP 😎✈️
because one playdate was NOT enough.

As January unfolds, I continue to reflect on 2025 and all that Blaze and I have accomplished as a team, & all the places we had the opportunity to explore this past year, and I must say that I am blown away. My intentions for 2025 had been to travel more, with one to two trips per month, and to rest and protect my health (which is especially challenging when traveling is in the mix). It’s very clear I was able to achieve my first goal, but the accomplishment of my second goal was unfortunately hindered by a number of factors, including a good chunk that I had no power over. There were definitely highs and lows, and the lows were very low indeed. But I am still here, fighting through all of it, and this second goal continues to be at the forefront of my goals for 2026. The good news is that I must say that it appears to have finally leapt forward at the end of 2025 and now in early 2026 with the addition of 4 new specialists in various fields of medicine to my medical team (with one more pending to join) that do seem to be making a real positive difference. On this hopeful note, I’m sending out to the universe that 2026 will be a beautiful year of adventure, recovery and continued growth, and I wish all of you the same 💜

I hope you’re taking the time to reflect back on the past year too, and on what you want this new year to look like. Not in the sense of creating a list of “New Years Resolutions” that will end up in the trash in a few weeks, but rather as an exercise of introspection with the intent of opening up to all learning experiences that have been sent to you, and on walking into this new year with a clear intent on what lessons you want to focus on this year. And yes, these lessons can have been taught to you by your dog, or be about improving or growing your relationship with your dog too! 🐾

Thank you to all who participated in making this past year so special, including my ever so faithful service dog without who none of this would’ve been possible ❤️
