I turned 35 last month. And more importantly, it’s been a decade since I began writing about #autism in my second full-time job. I won’t lie. This year was a challenging one. Covering a chaotic White House and writing my second book knocked a lot out of me. I felt incredibly isolated through some of the days. I frequently felt exhausted. But more often than not, I realized just how damn fortunate I am for the people I have joining me throughout the years. This was a year where my mom now lives nearby, so I see her more frequently. My dad and I spent more time together this year than we have probably in the past decade and dug deep. I reconnected with older friendships and met more people across the country that I never thought I’d meet. I also saw my career take off and became a go-to expert on autism in many media outlets, which is nice, but more importantly, connected me with so many more people. I remember everyone who told me that my work helped. I thank God I am able to do some good in the world. I leaned into sobriety, got a sponsor and began attending 12-step meetings regularly. I didn’t really accomplish much in this year. But I began the work to accomplish more and build a life I want. And for that, I am proud and grateful. Happy New Year. I woke up to the most amazing early birthday present the other day.....100K of you!!! Thank you all so much for getting me, for giving me a place to share my wild ideas and dump my weirdest conspiracies. I came here to discuss Bravo but, almost 6 years later, have gotten to cover and discuss some of the most fascinating and bizarre moments in pop culture and news. Many of us need a place to talk about certain things that few others in our life are following or interested in talking about. I love being a place where you all can come and share how you feel about what you watched or what you read or what you saw on Twitter or TikTok or what your friend’s cousin’s best friend saw a Bravolebrity do.
