TV REVIEW: 7.1/10 “KEEP YOUR FRIENDS CLOSE, YOUR ENEMIES CLOSER”
Rivals is a British comedy-drama set in the cutthroat world of 1980s independent television, centered around a major rivalry between two powerful men. Things come to a head amidst corporate takeovers and lots of juicy personal drama. It’s a constant battle of egos, ambition, and a lot of adultery. For us, it wasn’t the most addicting show where we couldn’t wait for the next episode, but towards the end of the season things really start to get going and got us invested. And then it leaves off on a major cliffhanger. For anyone who watched Black Monday, it’s a similar type of show taking place in the 80’s, everyone drinking and partying to excess, no morals and there’s definitely not a good guy to root for. But that’s what makes it fun. Season 2 is coming out soon, so if there’s a time to catch up, it’s now.
