Day 2 of #brookshypefest WAS A DREAM - so much so that I fell asleep trying to post this and woke up with the phone in my hand (SORRY I WAS UP AT 3:30AM). Met the inspirational QUEEN @_charihawkins and stayed hydrated with @water.io.official and @nuunhydration, ran my long run(s) with the best crew, cooked up some cool stuff for Brooks, and rang in the roaring 20s in style. My tea (or tee, IYKYK 🏌🏻‍♀️) cup is absolutely full ☕️ What a wonderful day ❤️ @brooksrunning #brooksrunning #brooksrunningcollective #letsrunthere

#WRCtransformation #Repost @runashley821 ・・・ #transformationtuesday Mental strength In 2016, I was at my peak fitness. 5lbs less than today, strength training 3x a week, zero kids, more sleep, shorter commute. This was the year I *should* have gotten all my race PRs. But instead I got only one, this 5k So why am I faster now? My mental strength is at an all time high. My pain cave grew deeper. I’m better at training harder on workout days, and when race day comes I’m better at being uncomfortable longer. Why? Bc pregnancy is hard, giving birth is insane and raising a baby and now toddler is freakin’ exhausting - physically & mentally. Running is NOT hard in comparison. Running is relief, freedom, empowering. Running is FOR me. It’s a gift, a privilege. When I changed my perspective, it truly transformed my running. During this race on Sunday, I didn’t feel great for most of it. It was hot & humid, and I thought at mile 1, I want to stop. But now I catch myself, and flip the narrative. In mile 4, I kept telling myself how strong I am, and how great I’m doing! Don’t underestimate the power of training your mind in fitness ❤️ #runningmotivation #mentalstrength #womensrunningcommunity #mentalstrengthtraining #igrunner #strongnotskinny #halfmarathontraining #runhappy #motherrunner #bamr #hansonsmarathonmethod #runner #5k #prs #ihavearunnersbody #irunthisbody #momlife #momsofinstagram #runhard #runitfast #pushyourself

#WRCtransformation #Repost @runashley821 ・・・ #TransformationTuesday I want to talk about a runner’s body. Me? I don’t have a stereotypical one... I’ve got beefy calves and bulky arms. And you know what? I run, and therefore I have a runner’s body! It’s something I struggled with a long time. Wishing, yo-yo dieting, crying & being upset. Feeling sorry for myself - why can’t I be naturally slender?? It’s hard as a young girl & woman as skinny was always celebrated as best. Getting into my late 20’s & early 30’s I finally realized healthy & strong are best. This is what I want to pass onto my daughter. Your body is something to fuel, exercise and appreciate! Not starve, abuse and curse for not being a certain way. I wish our society was better about promoting what really matters. I spent a lot of time in my 20s drinking & binge eating away the pain of not living up to these standards, where my weight fluctuated between the low of 113 & high of 144lbs. That’s where I was in the left picture running my 3rd marathon. It takes time to become comfortable in your own skin. Growing to love & accept my gifts & flaws is why I was eventually able to get to where I am today. Yes I’m still often the runner surrounded by people who look “more fit” than me, but now it drives me! So if you happen to be someone who also struggles with body image, I feel you. I also want to remind you, you’re incredible & the limits you set for yourself are imaginary. Dream as big as you wish, and you can do things you never imagined possible. #selflove #bodyimage #ihavearunnersbody #irunthisbody #marathoner #runhappy #strongnotskinny #strongwomen #womensrunningcommunity #igrunners #runphx #runfast #dreambig #motherrunner #bamr #runningmama #instarun #bostonbound #bq #runnerscommunity
