Another incredible John Wayne Grit Series race in the books, and my heart is full of gratitude! Lone Pine, you showed up and showed out! From the breathtaking trails to the grit, determination, and smiles at the finish line, this weekend was a HUGE success!

To our amazing staff, family, friends, runners, volunteers, and sponsors — THANK YOU! You continue to show up, put in the miles, endure the long days, embrace the challenges, and believe in something so much bigger than a race. None of this happens without each and every one of you.

Five races down, one to go. What a ride it’s been! The miles traveled, the friendships made, the challenges overcome, and the memories collected along the way remind me why I love what I do. Some days are exhausting, some are downright crazy, but every single one is worth it when I see what we accomplish together🤠.

Well well well. A race I practically drooped from because I canceled my hotel a week before. But then I got a case of the fck it’s. So rebooked my room 😂 Petey no training. And I think it was the best decision I made. Ok git up early Friday drove up to big bear and had plenty of time before the HOKA shake out. And what a fun time it was. Before we started they had a raffle and gave a couple items out then it was off we went. Ok so this was great because I gave me a chance to remember the beginning of the race so we went 2 miles out and back. I walked much of it because I wanted to see my pace before going up the mountain the next day in order to conserve energy. And for a guy that didn’t train I felt
Really good. I was happy with the pace and thought i definitely can do this. Well I woke up in the morning tied the line and remembered going up that mountain last year and it was brutal. So when I started the race I figured in my head yes being in my head is like the ghetto. I thought I just do the beginning of the race and go back to my room and eat pizza lol. Well of as I was running one of the planters in my left foot was tight and that really pushed me to not do it. But that HOKA cheer station just at the bottom of the mountain and people I know encouraged me and I figured I just go up a little way and come back down 😂. My foot was feeling better and I had a good pace going up the mountain and before yiu know it I was more then half way up. The weather yesterday was perfect. I was with a good crowd and before yiu know it we were at the top. PS I PR’d my climb from the bottom of the hill to the top. What a great accomplishment 😂 fur a guy that wanted to just say fck it. Ok yep it was time to come back down I made some really nice friends and we played tag on the way down we laughed we talked and turned this into a fun thing supporting each other. Ok I finished at 3:50 which wound up as a 13 minute PR from last year and I actually couldn’t believe it. Even though I kicked a Rick with the same toe I recently broke and that shit hurt 😂. Ok I definitely want to do this one again next year and want to bet some more of those good vibes. 😎

3 1/2 years ago I heard about a new program with the @lamarathon called the “Party Pacers” designed to bring support, energy and love to the back of the pack. Since its inception, the team has grown and now we’re out for the whole season of @mccourtfoundation races. The 26-27 season got off to a spirited start with last weekends @santamonicaclassic From the elites on the 10K and 5K course to the final athletes bringing it home, the day closed with the kids races which are the absolute BEST. Being out on course is fantastic and the bubble gun is always a hit. Congrats to all the athletes!

Chat’s not wrong. 🤷‍♀️
What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. 😂☀️

Would you have:
A) Finished the run
B) Cut it short
C) Pretended your Garmin died
D) Called an Uber 😂💀

There Is No “I” in Team

A year ago, what was once just an idea began taking shape in the wide-open beauty of Turpin Meadow in Jackson Hole, Wyoming—a place where history, adventure, and the spirit of John Wayne come together.

At just 23 years old, John Wayne filmed his very first movie, The Big Trail, right here in this incredible landscape. A year ago, we began the journey of creating a race in this very place, carrying that history forward while raising money for something that means so much: the John Wayne Cancer Foundation.

What followed was a year filled with moving pieces, endless organizing, flights, miles and miles of driving, course scouting on foot, and even exploring the land on horseback. There were details upon details, plans that changed, challenges to overcome, and countless moments when the vision had to become a reality.

I say this all the time, and I truly believe it: there is no “I” in team.

I may be the Race Director and the person who helps bring this event together, but there is no way I could do it alone. It takes an incredible amount of love, hard work, support, teamwork, and organization behind the scenes to make something like this happen.

And then there are the runners.

The people who show up, put one foot in front of the other, challenge themselves, raise money, bring their families and friends, and believe in the cause. The volunteers who give their time. The sponsors and supporters who help make the impossible possible. Every single person becomes part of the story.

Standing in these beautiful places where John Wayne once filmed reminds me that what we are creating is bigger than a race. We are bringing people together in extraordinary landscapes, honoring a piece of history, and raising money to help the John Wayne Cancer Foundation continue its fight against cancer.

A year ago, Jackson Hole was an idea.

Saturday was a memory in the making—and I am incredibly grateful for every person who helped turn that idea into something real.

THANK YOU everyone who showed up , I love you guys.

And … for those of you who were aware , my stitches are FINALLY OUT 😂🙏🏻🤠.
