Celebrating the 40th birthday of @nattydevine in Ibiza was a chaotic (yet well-organized), orange-tinted, music-saturated, jamón-flavored, Aperol-fueled fever dream that was nothing short of spectacular and that I would do again 100 times over. Everyone in our crew was fabulous on the inside, outside, upside down, and sideways. It takes a very special person to entice 25+ people from three continents to spend eight hours on a pirate ship going ‘round and ‘round a 221-square-mile island, and Natalie Devine is ~that~ person. It’s an honor to be your friend, and I’m grateful every day for that fortuitous delayed flight to Spokane that slammed us together, never to live separately again. I love you! 🧡

@runey01, Culture Director at Axe + Saw, has spent a decade working in communications and, for the most part, needed to code-switch—not just in the ways that people of colour often find themselves doing. To quote, Rahsaam Ray II, whose LinkedIn post inspired this piece, Arun has found himself “Too corporate for the cool kids. Too cool for the corporate ones.”

“The professional version carries its own friction. In creative spaces, I’ve felt too structured, too commercially aware, too shaped by years of C-level pushback to fully let go. In corporate spaces, it flips - too instinctive, too culturally specific, watching references that feel completely obvious to me land with a wry, diplomatic nod. If you know the correct response to Giggs’ Talking the Hardest, you’ll know what I mean. If you don’t, that’s sort of the point,” he writes.

Arun, who spends his day thinking about how culture moves through the world, has first-hand experience building earned-first campaigns for brands like Guinness, Instagram and Pepsi. To read the full piece, click the link in bio.

Five years in. Two new directors. A client roster that keeps growing 🔥🔥

We’re so excited to welcome Arun, who joins us as Culture Director, with our very own Hannah stepping up to Strategic Director - both joining our Senior Leadership Team as we head into our next chapter.

A milestone moment. And we’re just getting started!
