Let every sharp-angled fool out there, armed with a lens and a lie, find out the hard way that films do not just happen. Let the grind of it dull their edges. Let the barrages of “no” shatter their ego. Let the little victories sharpen their tongues. Let the large defeats blur their vision. Let them suffer. Let them catch a break. Let them sweat. Let them break their own heart, and then the hearts of others. Let them hang their head with fatigue. Let them cry. Then, let them figure out why it’s worth it. Because it is. It’s worth it. ********** This shot was taken by the incredible @kade_life during a rehearsal deep in the California desert in December of 2016. It is one of my favorites. #bts #independentfilm @runnerfilm2018

@runnerfilm2018 comes out this week on iTunes and Amazon Prime! This is one of the beautiful shots lensed by our ac/2nd cam/art hero @kade_life —while I held a small portable LED light through a tiny ambulance window. We were fully embracing those wide angle close-ups! Loved DP’ing this film and had a dream team shooting with me, in the trenches. #cinematography #cinematographer #directorofphotography #indiefilmmaking

We needed something big. In the morning, we panicked. This was a vital moment in the film and a few different story directions could determine our fate. Ultimately our director, @briangrandles, bravely decided to keep it simple. The script called for the character to open her door, have a small unsettling exchange with a dangerous stranger. Some breath would be enough. We used the natural light through an old window to bounce off of the vintage wood in a classic Hollywood hills house and onto actress @mslaurenwaites. She used a small prop and a gentle elegance to create one of my favorite moments/shots in @runnerfilm2018 . #runnerfilm2018 #directorofphotography

As a Director of Photography, there is so much you communicate in the shadows. Single-source lighting is a great way to create mystery, intimacy and urgency. In a second, it could all fade out and we’d lose this moment. Actor @roberthardin Is an expert in these kind of shots, bringing intensity and control all at once. #runnerfilm2018 is now available for pre-order on ITunes. Coming out on all platforms Aug 21rst.
