It only let me tag 20 people, sorry. 😅. Recapping this past year has been insane. 🥹❤️
I used to run cross country and track and field in high school and college. Throughout my 20s, I kept telling myself, “One day, you’re going to run a marathon.” Year after year, that dream kept getting pushed aside.
At 34, I finally told myself, “You know what? Let’s enter the lottery. God, if it’s meant to be, I’ll get in. If not, we’ll try again next year.”
On December 18th, I received the email. I GOT IN! 🥹
I was in complete shock. My supervisor asked what I was looking at, and I told her I had gotten into the marathon.
I started running again, but nothing about this journey was easy.
As many of you know, I work in social work, and balancing the emotional demands of my career, life, and marathon training was challenging. There were days I was physically exhausted, mentally drained, and questioned whether I could do this.
But I kept showing up.
Along the way, I met incredible people, joined run clubs, built beautiful friendships, and even started a run club with my own friends. What began as a personal goal became something so much bigger.
Running became more than just miles. It became my peace, my outlet, my healing, and a reminder of how strong I truly am.
There were tears, setbacks, early mornings, long runs, laughter, and moments when I wanted to give up. But there were also people who believed in me, encouraged me, and reminded me why I started.
To everyone who supported me, ran alongside me, checked on me, encouraged me, or simply believed in me, THANK YOU. ❤️
That girl who ran cross country and track never imagined what this journey would become.
I didn’t just train for a marathon. I found friendships, community, strength, and a version of myself I had been missing.
But most importantly, I found ME. ❤️🏃🏻‍♀️🌻

Yoooo we did it ! First half marathon in the books and got that sub 2 . Running next to @capitalceez_ and @_aureliorod for a bit made them miles fly by. Appreciate all of yall that’s been tapped in and hyping me up throughout prep.

Calm month, keeping the same routine I’ve been running. Work, train, eat, sleep, repeat. Really wanting to just have a day or two to just relax. But I’m always on the move, not complaining about it nonetheless. This week’s been like a calm before the storm, closer to the end of the month is gonna get crazy for me so I gotta make sure I’m good all around in my life. Always gotta be locked in on the journey, and enjoy whatever comes along with it..🔒🖤

Finally got to link up with the homie @capitalceez_ We’re both doing the Chicago Half, and decided to do one last long run to test waters on where we are. Vibes were high and we were just flowing through miles. Turned up the last couple miles hitting sub 9’s.
