Sometimes I think about how easy it is to underestimate a small moment. 🍽️

At KhulaKitchen I watched a volunteer hand someone a plate of food, and it was such a simple thing — a few seconds, really. No big speech, no fanfare. Just “here you go” and a smile. And I found myself wondering... does that person know what that moment might mean down the line?

Maybe it’s a kid who now has never had someone genuinely care for them without expecting something in return. Maybe it’s someone who hasn’t felt looked after in a while, and that little bit of warmth reminds them that they matter. We won’t always see where it goes. Most of the time, honestly, we won’t. But that doesn’t mean it isn’t going somewhere.

That’s what KhulaKitchen days are. Not one big dramatic gesture — just a lot of small, human moments stacked on top of each other. And I truly believe those add up to something lifelong, even if we’re never around to see the full story play out.

So if you’ve ever served a plate, packed a container, or just shown up on one of these days — thank you. You probably did more than you’ll ever know.

If you want to be part of it, our donate button is on the website (link in bio). Even the small stuff helps. 💛

This Saturday, we’re back at Love Christian Pre-school in Mamelodi for another Food Day 🍲🔥
On the menu: our Genesis nutritional meal, plus boerewors on the braai — good food, good company, and a whole lot of fun with the kids in our community.

Here’s the thing about volunteering with us — it changes you too. You leave with a different sense of what matters and deep gratitude. You’re not just donating from a distance, you’re watching your effort feed a child in real time.
Two ways to be part of it:

🙋‍♀️ Volunteer with us on the day — extra hands make a huge difference

💰 Can’t make it? A donation helps us cover this week’s meals (link in bio)

Every plate matters. See you Saturday 🧡
