This past Saturday, we welcomed my mentees from all over the world to Atlanta for our Salon Suite Model in-person meetup, and my heart is so full. ❤️🙏🏽

Thank you to everyone who invested in yourselves, got on a plane, and showed up ready to learn, grow, and build your dreams. We rolled out the red carpet because I wanted each of you to experience what VIP truly feels like. We laughed, we danced, we hugged, and created memories I’ll never forget. ❤️

Keep chasing your dreams. 💪🏽 Stay disciplined. Stay focused. Keep believing, even when it’s hard. Just know I’m always rooting for you. I believe in you, and I genuinely love and appreciate every one of my mentees. 🫶🏽

A special thank you to my amazing business partner and twin sister, Sharice @realestate_reese. It’s a blessing to walk this journey with you by my side. Thanks to our Program Director Sharda for all of your hard work, thanks to our incredible coaches, and the entire team for making this weekend so special. Thank you to my wonderful mother Darlene and my girlfriend, @porsha4real for your constant love and support. ❤️🙏🏽Thank you to DJ @alix_goodenergy for setting the perfect vibe, and to @tyeishaevolves for creating a night of excellence. From seated guard, the 2-on-1 is one of the most dominant grips you can obtain. Here we combine a power scoot with a strong pull to lift our partner and drag them into the hip. Notice that we are not attempting to sweep then pass the guards in the conventional sense; we bypass both situations by going directly to the back.

This week at Odyssey Jiu-Jitsu we’ll be focusing heavily on the back position: entries, retention, transitions, and finishes. 🎒

TECHNICAL INSIGHT: Knee Lever from Chest-to-Chest Half Guard for Guard Recovery

The Knee Lever works when your opponent’s trapped-knee is planted on the mat while you’re in chest-to-chest half-guard. You wedge both of your feet outside their knee, pinch your knees and create a mechanical lever that collapses their base.

That gives you a simple dilemma:

• If they widen their base, you use the open space to perform a knee-elbow escape back into either butterfly or closed guard.
• If they don’t widen, you roll/tilt them and complete the reversal.

Here we see Dan execute a well timed knee lever to recover back to closed guard. 💯

Good luck to Colin tomorrow night at @nfcfights

In this clip from @adcc_official Louisville, Colin shows exactly how rapidly he’s improving by hitting a perfectly timed takedown out of bounds and making sure to land outside the guard for the clean 4 points under ADCC rules.

He battled his way to a 🥈 medal that day, along side his teammate Mike who took 🥇. Can’t wait to see him put it all together on a big stage tomorrow night. Let’s go, Colin! 💥

Technique Breakdown: Inside Heel Hook from Cross Ashi

In this sequence, Dan Ingo checks every box of a tight, technical inside heel hook:

1️⃣ Hip alignment: His hips are level with the line of the knee, creating lateral pressure through the direction of his ashi.

2️⃣ Grip placement: The wrist-watch grip gives bone-on-bone contact for maximum torque and zero heel slippage.

3️⃣ Opposing pressures: By combining rotational force from the grip with wedging and leg pressure, he generates a clean, powerful finish.

DETAIL OF THE DAY: Pin first, attack second.

Rush here locks a bear trap on the far leg to remove mobility and structural counters then reaps across to the active leg. Pinning creates the control window that makes attacking and finishing more reliable.
