Apologies for the rubbish lighting and background 😂 i got a parcel yesterday from the amazing @russ2000_uk and my daughter wanted to unbox it 😂

Not only did i get the amazing books that I won, I also got snacks and a copy of Russel's book Britainnia Rises (I have read his other book Hero Virus and it is still one of my fave books this year! So I am super excited to read this one!)

Even though it was a giveaway that I won, it was chosen on my birthday so I am counting it as a birthday present 😂

Thankyou so much @russ2000_uk !! You have made our week 🥰

COME UNBOX A MYSTERY BOOK PACKAGE ✨📖🌟🤎

Thank you so so much @russ2000_uk I actually cannot wait to read this 🤩!!!

This book sounds so good !! And so different to anything I’ve read or heard of before 📖

A little snippet about the book… 📖☕️

How do you stop a pandemic when there are people who will kill for the virus? How do you stop people getting infected when they’re willing to die for it? How do you stop the infected when they have abilities nobody has ever seen before?

Spooky haunting fun. #HereForTheFunNotTheNumbers

Once again the #oldskoolchallengeclub have come up with three challenges for the week.

@hook.me.a.book tagged me in the #HauntingHaiku challenge so that was my decision.

The challenge:
Create a Haiku using book titles. Three lines. Three titles. Five, seven, five syllables.
And make it haunting 👻😱

I present to you my Haunting Haiku:

The Vivisectors
The End of Everything
I Shall Wear Midnight

😱

For extra fun here is a backstory for these haunting lines:

Now, this is a story all about how
My life got flipped-turned upside down
And I'd like to take a minute, just sit right there
I'll tell you how I became the prince of a nightmare

With THE VIVISECTORS I was born and raised
In the bio-lab spending most of my days
Chilling out, maxing, relaxing all cool
And slicing DNA just after school
When a couple of guys who were up to no good
Started making mutations and playing with blood
I got in one little fight and the scientists got scared
And said you're moving to a secure lab in the middle of nowhere

Well, I pulled up to the lab about seven or eight
And I turned to the driver, but he was no longer there
The stars winked out, I could barely see a thing
Surely this was THE END OF EVERYTHING
I screamed in the void and pulled out my hair
And grabbed my black cloak as dark as despair
As reality cracked, I poured out my soul
I SHALL WEAR MIDNIGHT, that is my goal
And as everything faded, I was finally there
Haunting the land as the prince of a nightmare.

👻😱

Hope you enjoyed. Why not create your own haunting haiku?

I'll tag a few. No pressure 😉

I am also so appreciative when I get messages like this I don’t want to pressure myself but I also do want to try and help indie authors as much as I can whenever I can.

These both sound super interesting by @russ2000_uk

Happy Release Day✨

The third instalment of the Britannia Series has finally arrived… So what are you waiting for?

There’s something I really enjoy about returning to a series and getting that feeling of familiarity with the characters and the world. I forget how invested I am in the story in between books, and then it’s like I never stopped reading.

This is definitely one of those books where you tell yourself “just one more chapter” and suddenly you’ve read half the book and can’t keep your eyes open.

QOTD: what’s the last book you rated five stars?

Happy Release day to @russ2000_uk for the Third instalment of the Britannia Series.

I was lucky enough to read the first 2 and @russ2000_uk kindly sent me the third book. Safe to say it didn't disappoint! It was the most fast paced in the series as the characters are well established and the story well built by this point. It had action throughout with political notes too. However it was a nice balance and politics didn't overshadow or overwhelm. I would recommend reading the series in order, as there is 'world building' within the first 2 to establish character and the story. I would highly recommend this series as any of @russ2000_uk books i can never put down! They are always a delight! If you looking for something more than a basic thriller that you can really get your teeth into then this is the series for you! I am highly anticipating book 4 already as this book really left me wanting more!

A thriller set in an alternate history? Yes please.

Happy publication day @russ2000_uk and thank you for the ARC.

📘 Britannia Hunts by Russell Dumper

✨✨✨✨4 stars

It's the third installment in the Britannia Series. A story of spies, government agencies, politics and worldwide action set in a world parallel to ours, an alternate history leading to a scary alternate future.

Following events in BRITANNIA RISES and BRITANNIA STRIKES comes the third book in this explosive series, BRITANNIA HUNTS.

The cast of characters is now huge and thankfully there's a cast list at the beginning to help readers keep track. We'll all have our favourites and it's always a worry whether they will make it to the end of the book as we've seen some big characters come and go in the previous volumes.
The most relatable is Jamie Bayston who has found himself on the run and helping the resistance in the fight against the evil Empire.

The plot moves swiftly, taking in multiple viewpoints with constant changes in location, and there is a lot more political intrigue and maneuvering and less action in this book, as the plot progresses towards the next volume.
There are still action sequences in Britannia Hunts with a couple of particularly stand-out sequences that had me on the edge of my seat.

I do advise reading the books in order or it will be difficult to keep track of what is going on. For fans of the first two this is a must read.

It's very much plot-led which keeps things fast-paced with the only downside being that locations often aren't fleshed out or we don't spend long enough in one place, but it's a minor quibble as there are a lot of interesting characters and there's a good amount of mystery and intrigue to go along with the action.

It's an amazing accomplishment to have a series like this from an independent author and I'm already looking forward to where the story goes next as there are some major revelations towards the end of this book.

A fun and entertaining read.
