I started Chicane Media because I was trying to enter the social media world, make money, and ultimately save my mom.

And you know what? I did that.

I lost friends. I lost money. I lost peace. But I can firmly say my mom appreciated what I did for her, and I will forever be proud that I showed up for her when she needed me.

One thing that broke my heart was watching Chicane Media slowly split apart.

Recently I’ve watched Austin from Valvetronic get praised for everything he has accomplished in 9 years, and I’m genuinely hype for him.

Because I remember when we were both still talking about what we were trying to accomplish.

Years ago, Austin and I had a private conversation during a workout at LA Fitness.

We talked about life.

I told him what I needed to accomplish for my mom.

He told me what he needed to accomplish for his journey.

Looking at where we are today, I can say we both accomplished that chapter.

Seeing what 9 years of hard work can create made me realize something about Chicane.

Chicane never really got a fair shot.

I was trying to build something that naturally takes years while living through circumstances that demanded results immediately.

Chicane couldn’t generate money fast enough for some of the people involved to see the purpose and value in what I was trying to build.

At the time that hurt.

Now I understand it differently.

Not everybody can wait years for a vision they can’t see yet.

But that doesn’t mean the vision was wrong.

And that brings me to where I am today.

A lot of people want to make money in social media and marketing.

I’ve tried over and over to bring myself back into that world and build for other people again.

I can’t right now.

Not because I don’t believe in it.

Because of my energy.

I saw the value in this space years ago.

I gave free game.

I recommended people.

I shared people.

I made connections.

I tried to give opportunities to people I believed in.

And I promise I don’t regret any of it.

I never gave to receive anything back.

That was never why I did it.

But I’ve learned something important.

Not expecting something in return doesn’t mean you can’t eventually become exhausted from always
