Trimmed down this exhibition coverage by @RutgersArt for my contribution, ‘False Passage.’ Stitched in some footage of the servant record, sketches, and private viewing @hcccofficial 🤍

It’s been one year since the opening and I’m still living off that high.

Cooking up something for 2025.

Tagging @newarkmuseumart since it was the very first place I ever exhibited my artwork in 2006 [credited as Arielle A. Mahabir / Mixed-Media Wire Sculpture ‘Sweetface’] resulting in a Congressional Award from the President of the #UnitedStates and this being my latest show.

The journey never ceases to amaze me.

Stay tuned #JerseyCity and #NYC 🙏🏽💰🔥

Over the past year, I have had the privilege of collaborating closely with the General Pencil Company and the Art Department at Hudson County Community College on an exciting initiative called “Windows of Creativity.”

The aim of our grassroots project has been to ignite creativity among young individuals, using the humble pencil as a catalyst for artistic expression. In partnership with Katie Vanoncini, President of General Pencil, we embarked on a journey to transform the boarded windows of the General Pencil Company’s factory building into a canvas showcasing local talent.

As a passionate advocate for Jersey City’s artistic community, I was drawn here by the inspiration of General Pencil, one of the last standing pencil factories in America. Additionally, as an alum of Hudson County Community College, alongside Laurie Riccadonna, Head of the Art Department, we organized a contest encouraging students to capture the essence of our culturally diverse state, exploring themes like our environment and New Jersey wildlife habitats. Big shout out to @joshgreenbaumart for assisting me in the install. #wimdowsofcreativity

On Monday morning, my community-based art project “windows of creativity” will be installed. Adorned into the @generalpencil factory windows. I am so proud of the students at Hudson County community college for their beautiful and inspiring work. This project has taught me a lot and I’m so grateful.

Windows of Creativity: for the past year I’ve been working closely with the General Pensil Company (@generalpencil) cultivating a mural project. My vision for this project was to adorn the windows of the factory with one of a kind murals created by Jersey City artists. The works shown here were created by the students at Hudson County community college (@hcccofficial). These amazing students have created some breathtaking art. Each one of these drawings shows the vitality and diversity that truly creates this city. If anything, it’s been an honor for me to work with these students.

New pop-up exhibit featuring the work of Alejandro Deleon and myself in the Hudson County Community College JSQ Library. Looking forward to seeing more student work in this exhibit.

Primal Spirit King is a wearable mask inspired by South American Indigenous cultures. Made with Papier-mâché and Acrylic. The mask was accidentally left in the library and when it was found the next morning it was decided to add the mask to the case.
-
The Polymer Pals (handmade by me with polymer clay and acrylic) is the working title for a line of wall mountable collectible sculptures. These are the first of many to come and will feature all types of different personas.
-
If you’re an HCCC student interested in displaying your work send a DM @hcccart

Everything I could have ever asked for. Thank you, for all of it. I was able to share my work with my family and friends.

Shout out to the kids, they really enjoyed the artwork and space.

This is a beautiful beginning. I am excited to see where this all can take me.

I want to continue to tell important stories and document life as it unfolds before me.
