I had the opportunity to sit down with Walter R Kirkland, whose story is a powerful reminder that the lessons learned through sports can shape every chapter of life.

What I enjoyed most about our conversation wasn’t just talking about championships or career success. It was hearing how the discipline, resilience, preparation, and competitive mindset he developed as an athlete became the foundation for everything he’s accomplished since leaving Rutgers.

This June, in celebration of PRIDE month, two #Rutgers student-athletes from the @ruswimdive and @rutgerstfxc teams attended the 6th Annual @athleteally Activism Summit in the Poconos, PA, connecting with student-athletes, coaches, and administrators from across the nation. Through workshops, discussions, and community-building experiences, they gained valuable insights and tools to help foster inclusion, allyship, and belonging on campus. 🏳️‍🌈 #allyship #inclusion
