Things to do this weekend in North London July 25-26

🍷 Wine Car Boot at Coal Drops Yard. Independent wine shops and importers set up out of car boots. Pour their favourites for you to taste and buy.

🌼 Pick Your Own Flowers at GROW Farm. Cut your own flowers on a working farm in Totteridge. Fill a jar and take them home from £4.

❄️ Ice Heritage Weekend at London Canal Museum. Once a year the museum opens the Victorian ice wells beneath the building.

🚗 Islington Boot Fair. New boot fair opening in school playground on Treaty Street by the canal, running every other Sunday from here on.

🎵 Wembley Park Live. Eight acts across soul, funk, folk and pop, plus Royal Philharmonic Orchestra string quartet. Street food and market stalls.

🎶 Islington Festival of Music and Art. Ten day festival across Islington exploring music inspired by literature. Grew out of post-lockdown garden concerts in 2020.

🎪 Grand Summer Fête. Summer fête where the games are made and run by real artists and designers. Art Workers’ Guild going since 1884.

🛹 Camley Street Festival under the Camley Street Underpass. Skateboarding workshops for kids, live music, painting workshop, market stalls and face painting.

📖 1-Hour Reading Rave. Hour of strangers sitting in a park reading books with phones off.

👗 The Great Enfield Vintage & Collectibles Fair. Rummage through Victorian glass, vintage records, old perfume bottles, jewellery and cigarette cards from local stallholders. £1 entry.

🎶 AG Fest on Copthall Playing Fields. DJ AG throws his first festival.

🌱 Wolves Lane Community Fun Day. Free family day at community food growing hub in Wood Green among historic glasshouses.

Industry lunch at the recently opened @iscabordehill @bordehillgarden, just outside Haywards Heath in West Sussex 🥂🌱 The restaurant and cafe's garden alone is an edimental delight and I'm looking forward to to explore the whole estate next time (with sauna, cold plunge and yoga studio launching soon). Congratulations @jayrgoddard @ruthiefixer !

Stunning lunch @iscabordehill hosted by the amazing @ruthiefixer and team. We enjoyed the delish menu with produce from the gardens and local trusted suppliers, all beautifully cooked and with carefully thought through wine pairings. We were looked after so well by the amazing staff who provided attentive and personable service. A much-needed lunch with @paololancini and catching up with @jrodcooke

@bordehillgarden is gorgeous and cannot wait to go back and explore, the perfect blend of beautiful gardens, family-friendly exploring and exceptional dining.

🌳🪴🌿A GARDEN LIKE NO OTHER. GENUINELY BREATHTAKING!🌳🪴🌿

I have visited many beautiful places, but every so often, somewhere genuinely stops you in your tracks. Borde Hill Garden was one of those places.

I was lucky enough to be given a private tour by Jay and Head Gardener Mark Bobin, and it felt like being invited into the heart of something truly special. There was such generosity in the way they shared the garden with me, not just as a place to look at, but as something living, layered and deeply loved.

Every path seemed to open into another moment of beauty. Sweeping views, carefully considered borders, quiet corners and planting that felt both elegant and full of life. It is the kind of place where you naturally slow down, where you notice the small details as much as the grand scenes.

What stayed with me most was the passion behind it all. Mark spoke with such care and knowledge about the garden, its history, its planting and the work that goes into keeping it so special. Jay brought such warmth to the visit too, making the whole experience feel personal, thoughtful and incredibly memorable.

There is a real sense of calm at Borde Hill, but also a sense of purpose. It feels beautifully cared for without ever feeling too controlled. Grand in places, gentle in others, and full of those little moments that make you want to keep wandering just a bit further.

A beautiful visit, made even more meaningful by the people who took the time to share it with me. It was one of those rare visits that does not just leave you with beautiful photographs, but with a full heart and a quiet reminder of how powerful a place can feel when it is cared for with so much love.

As I left, I felt genuinely grateful, not only for the beauty I had seen, but for the kindness, passion and time that had been shared with me.

Some places are admired in the moment, but Borde Hill is the kind of place you carry with you long after you have gone.

I truly thought I could only get emotionally attached with humans, but here, here hits different. It touches you both emotionally but also spiritually. Incredible.
