Very fun and inspiring seeing a one-week turnaround project by @ruthmenglerart (BFA / BLA 3rd year double major) at Cullity Gallery under @ionat.zurr2018 @uwa_design (after a find-a-carpark session without taking up student or staff spots around the architecture & education campus). Ruth did an analogue-digital crossover - started with clay sculpting then modeled those, then pixelated and dragged the images, then took pixels from the stretched images, vectorised them and made compositional horizontally stretched pixel-shaped amorphous blobs, arranging the into a sort of series of lines evocative of landscape sections. Unmarked project, printed and exhibited for a day only. Students smash stuff out fast.

2025 has genuinely been the most creative, inspiring and productive year of my life, and really i feel i have only just begun. i should know by now, even the setbacks, disappointments, diversions and surprises have inevitably paced all things just as they needed to be. when will we learn lol.

i’ve been so lucky to have opportunities extended to me that were never on my radar; starring in the coolest girl band’s debut mv, yapping on the radio, filming diy vids always, starting a band!
and the overarching goal i set out to achieve finally coming to fruition in sweet divine timing: my album, of course.

it feels like more than a month since its release, but maybe that’s how everyone feels when they release an album they’ve worked on for two years. it’s like releasing a fledging you raised from an egg, something you would always have to set free.
the summer of SiNA is very much upon us, and though i already have new music in the works, there are Plans and Places to tell you about. Places and Plans even ;)

lastly, i am thankful for the equally creative, inspiring and supportive people who have played a role in all i have set out to achieve this year. the scene i have quickly been immersed in, both locally and online leaves my cup overflowing with passion and gratitude.

this life is the kind that makes you thirstier the more you drink 🫶🏻

Chilly winds and warm crowds at the launch of Rising Tides Binalup in Albany last night.

This future vision was created by Daniel Jan Martin, Liam Mouritz and Sofie Nielsen @uwa_design / @supernatural_landscape_

An accompanying student winter immersive explored seven places within the landscape framework, with UWA landscape architecture students Amity Crappsley-Pope, Ryan Munyard, Mark Patrick Tay, Megan Dease, Avril Stewart, Ruth Mengler and Kenjie Ben.

Thank you to Merningar Barduk Elder Lynette Knapp and daughter Shandell Cummings for the Welcome to Country, for the support of @uwaalbany and Professor Stephen Hopper, and UWA SDVC Professor Tim Colmer for your words last night.

Rising Tides Binalup looks ahead to a future of rising tides with a vision of care and optimism, where the bays, dunes, and waters of Binalup / Middleton Beach–Emu Point connect again and flourish. Students imagined seven places along a reconnected wetland chain and coastal ecosystem.

The vision was inspired by community values and artworks, also exhibited this week, in collaboration with Associate Professor Natasha Pauli and the UWA team of social scientists and coastal engineers. This research project was made possible with funding from @uwaoceans.

Thank you!
To all to the student authors and designers
To wonderful communications design by @andand_studio
To all the participating community members
For the support of @uwaalbany and @cityofalbanyartsandculture

Rising Tides Binalup foldouts are available @uwaalbany and @uwa_design Cullity Gallery from next week.
