Still figuring out how to put Newport into words, so naturally I’m avoiding the problem entirely and starting with the most recent regatta. 😂 Last weekend was @rvicyc fall regatta, the Thermopylae Regatta, and it was a pretty perfect first regatta back home to the Pacific Northwest. A beautiful warm weekend in Cadboro Bay, a very pleasant breeze, and two days racing on Westerly with my love. I was also pretty excited to have four of my Cascadia Sailing teammates back on board on Saturday. Two had to get back to real life on Sunday, but over the weekend we were joined by some other great sailors and friends: Anna, Steve C, Fraser M, Nathan and Troy. Great crew work, good tactics, lots of laughs, and just a really fun weekend of racing. A big thank you to the organizers, race committee and everyone at the Club who made the weekend happen, including a pretty fantastic seafood boil Saturday night. 🦀🦐 The slogan for this year’s regatta was “How lucky are we?” Sailing in Cadboro Bay on a beautiful fall weekend, surrounded by some of my favourite people… How lucky are we, indeed. 💙⛵️ 📸 Andrew Madding, capturing @westerly_racing with Anna doing her thing on the bow.
