Jerrell Gibbs: Come home with me at the @baltimoremuseumofart
September 16, 2026 - May 2, 2027
@jerrellgibbs

Step into a world shaped by memory, family, and the enduring power of connection. In Come home with me, acclaimed Baltimore artist Jerrell Gibbs presents approximately 35 new paintings inspired by the people, places, and experiences that have defined his life.

At the heart of the exhibition is the home of Gibbs’s Aunt Ella, a cherished gathering place where loved ones came together. Through richly expressive works, Gibbs transforms personal stories into reflections on home, community, and the moments that shape who we are.

Come home with me celebrates the relationships and experiences that connect us across generations, backgrounds, and communities. Through this powerful new body of work, Gibbs reminds us that home is more than a place; it is a feeling of belonging that resonates with us all.

Jerrell Gibbs: Come home with me is curated by Antoinette Roberts, BMA Assistant Curator of Contemporary Art.

I’m incredibly honored to share that “Shabtis Gather: Jackie Milad” has been selected as a winner of AIGA’s 50 Books | 50 Covers of 2025.

Founded in 1923, @aigadesign 50 Books | 50 Covers is one of the longest-running competitions celebrating excellence in book design. This year, books were selected from 536 entries representing 29 countries. The winning publications become part of the permanent collection at Columbia University’s Rare Book & Manuscript Library in New York.

Designing “Shabtis Gather” was a deeply rewarding collaboration. Working closely with Jackie Milad, I wanted the book’s materiality, pacing, typography, and structure to echo the layered nature of her practice, creating a publication that invites readers to experience the work rather than simply view it.

I’m deeply grateful to @_jackie_milad_ for her trust throughout this process and to @bmoreart for partnering on the publication. Thank you to everyone who contributed their time, expertise, and care to this project. Books are always collective efforts, and this recognition belongs to the entire team.
