Batteries from VDL Bus & Coach get a second life at RWE in ‘project Anubis’.

“In project Anubis, we are initially using batteries taken from 43 electric VDL buses operated by Transdev in Eindhoven since 2016,” explains Paul van Vuuren, CEO of VDL Bus & Coach. “These vehicles are currently getting new and larger battery packs, but the used batteries still have enough capacity to be used in stationary applications. In Europe, we are one of the forerunners in the field of electric public transport. Providing a sustainable circular solution for our batteries is part of our strategy.”

Here’s a #throwback from September 2021, when the @nationalgrid Ventures team visited the @rwe.global Arkona Wind Farm. The 375MW offshore wind park is located 35 kilometers northeast of Rügen, an island in the German Baltic Sea. Arkona’s 60 #windturbines have the capacity to supply up to 400,000 German homes with #cleanpower per year!

“We want to identify the ways our project can help, whether it be through #workforce training, #education, #local jobs and more broadly to help the state and the nation reach its 30GW by 2030 target.”

Hear from our leadership team as they share our goals to enable a #cleanenergy future and our dedication to investing in local communities.
