I listened to Swiss-Nigerian rapper Paxslim’s new EP, LAMBO MUSIC, all day, and it made me want to make this post. It reminded me just how relaxing, and sometimes even hypnotic, his music can be. It’s one of the reasons I love what he does so much.

That’s something that has always been present in his music, which is why in this post I’m going all the way back to 2022 with “5min”, then moving through 2024 with “execution”, all the way to today.

And all these different eras have one thing in common : his producer, haram. He’s the genius behind this unique atmosphere, made of samples and many other things, which he’s managed to evolve so much over the years while still keeping the same DNA.

I love the contrast between the faster, Afro-influenced rhythms of his more recent music and the more melodic, airy side that has always been a big part of his sound, made even more prominent by his voice. It’s a combination you can hear all over his new EP, released today.

All of this comes with a lot of messages of hope, a desire to move forward and elevate yourself, which fits perfectly with the overall atmosphere. And of course, we can’t forget the core message behind his music which encourages African artists to embrace their culture and be proud of it, all embodied by his #AFRICAONLY slogan.

This combination is just perfect, you just let yourself get carried away by his music, and that’s exactly why he’s one of my favorite artists.
