This work is PERSONAL! I’m so grateful to do what I love with the people I love. @goforyours is so many things.

A movement. A community. A place where dreams are nurtured, leaders are developed and young people are reminded that what they want for their lives is possible.

More than anything, Go For Yours is a family. A family that shows up for one another, celebrates every win and genuinely wants everyone to WIN.

For a long time, silence and observation helped me find my footing. Expression came through practice: blogging, improv, acting, storytelling.

Years later, I stood on a red carpet as a producer, still learning when and how to be seen. The quiet observer is still here, shaping the stories and systems I build.

The Human Noise Production Hub began with a simple need: give the team one home for production information and resources.

It’s an early expression of InstinctǐVision’s operating system, growing into tools and services that help creative teams make with more room to breathe.

Some things are easier to carry than they are to say.

That’s where Closed Mouths began.

Born from a season when I couldn’t speak my own pain, this film explores what happens when silence becomes survival. Through drama, whimsy, and mystery, it follows a Black man searching for a way back to his voice.

We made this film over 2½ winter days in Chicago with the support of friends, artists, and a community that believed in the story from the very beginning.

Now, it’s ready to meet the world.

As Closed Mouths begins its festival journey, we can’t wait for audiences to experience it—and we hope the conversations it starts continue long after the credits roll.

Say it anyway.

CHICAGO GETS THE FIRST LOOK. 🎬

We made Closed Mouths for under $200 in 2024.

Not because the story was small.

Because a group of people decided it was worth making.

Now, that little film is premiering at the 62nd Chicago International Film Festival as part of the Live Action Short Film Competition—right here in the city where we made it.

That means a lot to us.

Closed Mouths is about a struggling filmmaker racing to submit a competition-winning script in one night while confronting anxiety, self-doubt, comparison, and everything he’s been keeping buried.

But you don’t have to be a filmmaker to understand that feeling.

We’ve all had something we wanted to say.

Something we were afraid to say.

Something we kept inside because we didn’t know how it would sound.

SAY IT ANYWAY.

I’m grateful to our producers @t.j.h.a.r.r.i.s , @author_jordanrivers, @justkeiph , @jadenduenas_ , @kat_blade , @vanbillbob , and @girltype3 —and to every person who gave something to this film.

This one belongs to the community that made it.

Join us in Lee Hall Auditorium tomorrow, Dec. 2 at 12pm, during our J-School Journals event, where we will showcase documentaries created by our SJGC students. We are proud of their hard work in completing these films and look forward to sharing them with you.

Swipe left to get a sneak peek of the five films that will be shown on Saturday.

“Frontline”
Frontline is a musically and visually stimulating documentary that delves into the world of hip-hop and fashion amongst people in Tallahassee. We’ll hear from different creatives on why they fell in love with music.

“Counted Out”
Counted Out is a film about redemption. Despite finishing the season 9-2 last season, the Rattlers were counted out in their race to the FCS playoffs. This season, the Rattlers are on a mission.

“Bearing the Burden”
Bearing the Burden is a short documentary that sheds light on the urgent and disturbing issue of Black maternal and infant mortality in the United States.

“Pretty Perfect”
Pretty Perfect is a thoughtful documentary diving into the multi-defined idea of perfection. Taking the viewer on a journey of what it means to be perfect through multiple people’s eyes.

“Florida Book Bans”
Florida Book Bans is a compelling exploration of the effects of the recent legislation on education, diversity, and inclusion. It provides an intimate view of the challenges faced by one school district while illustrating the broader implications for education nationwide.

We hope to see you in Lee Hall!
