Ryan Piech ➡️ Birdland 🟠⚫️

Congratulations to Ryan Piech on being selected by the Baltimore Orioles with the 200th overall pick in the 7th round of the 2026 MLB Draft!

One of the most dominant pitchers in the BIG EAST over the last two seasons, Piech leaves Xavier as an All-BIG EAST First Team selection, an ABCA/Rawlings All-East Region Second Team honoree, a BIG EAST All-Tournament Team selection, and a CSC Academic All-District recipient.

Piech put together a fantastic season in 2026, posting a 3.18 ERA across 76.1 innings while striking out a career-high 98 batters. He led the BIG EAST with 11.55 strikeouts per nine innings, ranked first in the conference in hits allowed per nine innings, and finished third in the league in total strikeouts. He finished off his Xavier career with a standout performance in the BIG EAST Tournament, tossing 7.2 innings of one-run ball against UConn with nine strikeouts to earn All-Tournament Team honors.

Over his two seasons on the mound for the Musketeers, Piech made 28 starts, recorded 163 strikeouts, held opposing hitters to a .191 batting average.

Congratulations, Ryan! Best of luck in Baltimore! ⚔️⚾️
