My favourite experience in Mongolia 🇲🇳

In July @ryan_bednar and I got to stay with a herder family for a couple nights in the Arkhangai Province of Mongolia where we got to take in their authentic way of life.

Huge thanks to Bayaraa and his family for having us and @fairfield_guesthouse for setting everything up for us

wore a lot of different hats this summer….. (only figuratively. I’m always wearing the same camo hat if you haven’t noticed)

Spent a week on the Nakasendo trail. Started the week meeting strangers, ended with new friends and a camera full of memories.

📍 Matsumoto
I came here a couple months ago, but I was still happy to see this beautiful city again

📍 Atera Valley
Crystal-clear, emerald-blue waters with striking rock formations surrounding the river. It felt amazing to take a dip in the cold waters after a long hike, especially during the Japanese summer

📍Lake Aoki
Similar to the Atera River, it features crystal-clear, emerald-blue waters. It was fun to see people enjoying water sports and being close to nature

📍 Kisohirasawa
A neighbouring town next to the famous Narai-juku, but still just as cool to visit. We were given a demonstration on the elaborate process of making lacquerware. Afterwards, we were given tea and biscuits to enjoy for free 🥰

1. Hiking from Tsumago-juku to Magome-juku
2. We wouldn't hesitate to swim in any suitable body of water we found
3. Celebratory drinks after a week of fun

Shintoism is ever present in nature ⛩️

📍 Magome-juku
A beautiful Edo-period post town. As a reward for completing our hike, we enjoyed goheimochi, a sweet and salty rice cake that is local to the Chubu region of Japan

On a hot Japanese summer day, we were grateful to take refuge under this teahouse

Thanks again to @ryan_bednar and @awaykentravel for making this happen. I'll remember this week forever 🙏

Can’t believe I didn’t know any of these guys just a couple of weeks ago. One road trip later, and we’ve become a group of really good friends.

It’s weird to think that if I hadn’t watched one of Ryan’s YouTube videos almost two years ago, I wouldn’t have met any of them.

A massive thank you to @angelteno from @awaykentravel and @ryan_bednar - genuinely one of the best times I’ve ever had.

I decided to go on a group tour to the Nakasendo trail, not knowing what I was getting myself into. But it turned out to be the best decision ever. I made new friends, experiences and memories that I'll never forget. Thanks @ryan_bednar and @awaykentravel for making this happen!
