NEW WORK Ramp Billpay — “Grab the Bills,” Director's Cut. Friday afternoon and a call from @dannycorey_dannycorey, “Want to pitch a crazy project with me? Treatment’s in the works. Bid’s due ASAP.” Yes, obvs I am in. The client brief was to make a trailer for their one-night only Broadway musical, without giving away the musical. Also, and more importantly, "make it cool.” Danny’s answer was to pitch a full-blown 70s paranoia thriller about the kidnapping of famous Bills in New York City. A few weeks later we were on the streets disinfecting phone booths, securing clandestine meetings in parking garages, shooting in a factory straight out of 1962, and staging multiple kidnappings in broad daylight on the streets of NYC. Big thanks to @dannycorey_dannycorey for bringing me into the madness. Your killer writing, killer vision, and creative partnership made this a very fun one to produce! And, thank you to the post team @ryan_h_berger @nickrua @coupestudios for making incredible work, in such a short amount of time. You understood the assignment. 🚨New Work Alert 🚨Ramp Billpay “Grab the Bills” I’m super excited to share this project for Ramp Billpay. The ask was pretty simple: create a trailer that teases an upcoming one-night musical event, but do NOT spoil anything about the musical itself….and also “make it cool.” Sooo…I pitched a 70s paranoia thriller about kidnapping famous Bills in NYC. To my surprise and delight, two weeks later, we were on the ground in New York with an incredible and unstoppable cast and crew running around the city for two days. From there, we had an amazing post team in Nick, Ryan, and Taylor who each knocked it out of the park. I’m super pleased with how it all turned out and can’t wait for you to watch. Thank you to @dannygevirtz for connecting me with this client. Thank you to @cinemavision.nyc for the top-notch gear. Thank you NYC for endless pizza. And a special thank you to @acorn_oakleaf for her creative partnership from day one and the Herculean effort of pulling this whole thing together in a week on a less-than-desirable budget. Looking forward to the next one with ya! my favorite part of the Upstream video 🩵 I had to sing the song at half speed while recording so it would have this quick, kind of glitchy effect when we brought it to normal speed in post. Basically @margotmakesmusic is a genius director 🤌🏻 Have you seen it yet? Sometimes the project just calls for that “clean” look. We went with Arri Signature Primes for this one. Paired with my @reddigitalcinema Monstro 8K, we were able to quickly crop in when we didn’t have the reach to get the frame we wanted. Shot this last year, but the spot only just recently dropped. Directed by @mattloweryvisuals & gaffed by @coreyrobn I tagged as many of the crew I could here. Click through if you need some awesome Oklahoma based crew. #cinematography #do #dop #filmmaking
