Dad and me. At our tiny micro wedding at Korakia Pensione. We decided on a very intimate ceremony with just our parents and sisters. My mom had just survived breast cancer surgery, chemo, and radiation, and I wanted our families, meeting for the first time, to have meaningful time together. It was everything I hoped for and more. My parents immediately connected with Ryan’s parents and Charley, and my dad, in his heartfelt way, said Ryan could only come from the best humans. He loved Ryan with all his heart.

After the ceremony, we all jumped into the pool together. It’s a memory I’ll hold onto forever, one of those moments that felt perfect in every way. I miss my dad every day, and the ache sometimes feels like it might pull me under. It’s like I’m living in a world that doesn’t quite feel like mine anymore. Grief is relentless, overwhelming, and hard to navigate, but I’m trying.

The truth is, I know I’ll be heartbroken for the rest of my life, and that’s okay with me. Because that’s how big my dad was, and how much he will always mean to me.

Forever grateful for that time. Forever missing him. ♥️

Two weeks ago Mom called and said Dad was in the ER. A scan found Dad had stage 4 pancreatic cancer. We were gutted and in disbelief. He had been healthy and active just weeks before. Yet only 12 days later, Dad passed…on the morning of July 5, surrounded by us. It feels like a dream we can’t escape, a reality too cruel. We are shattered and still processing.

Everything Dad did was with an intensity kicked up to 125% and the end was no exception. He fought with all his might. There was no pain too great for him to suffer if it meant he got more time with us. If it meant there was a chance for one more day. But his body was weak and we knew time was running out.

As impossible as it is to let Dad go, we are so grateful for the honor to be by his side in his last days. He was not alone for a single second, day and night. We held his hand, we kissed his face, we rubbed his toes, we whispered love into his ears. He told us he loved us, that his life with us was everything he could ever ask for. He told us goodbye. He revealed a tenderness that we had never seen before. A stoic man of very few words, offering his whole heart. We will cherish those moments forever and, to be honest, we feel nothing but lucky.

Right now, we still feel lost without him. We are raw and numb. We miss him with a pain that feels insurmountable. But Dad had a fiery spirit and wicked sense of humor. He would tell us to get up. To take care of Mom and to make sure Susan delivers her son safely in a few weeks. To keep going because that’s why he existed: to give us the best life possible. For him, we will smile and laugh again. We will celebrate his life and make him proud.

If you know our Mom, please reach out to her and send her love and strength. She is inconsolable without him 😞.

My lil baby Harvey Milkbone was attacked at his day care by another dog. He is doing ok but has had a rough few days with lots of stitches on his head and an ear that was nearly torn off. We are so thankful that he’s ok and he has me and Ryan to take care of him. He has been through more than any little pup should go through in a lifetime. He’s my teacher and my emotional support animal. But who’s supporting whom👀👀👀?!?! He lives each day in the present moment and never complains. What a gem of a pup he is! If you know him, you love him. If he’s ever bitten you, he loves you too and he’s sorry. Send him some love and strength to get better fast!
